مائیکروسافٹ نے پاکستان میں اپنی سرگرمیاں باضابطہ طور پر بند کر دی ہیں، جس سے اس عالمی ٹیکنالوجی کمپنی کے ملک میں 25 سالہ سفر کا اختتام ہو گیا ہے۔
باقی چند ملازمین کو حال ہی میں باضابطہ طور پر آگاہ کیا گیا کہ کمپنی پاکستان میں اپنی تمام سرگرمیوں کو مکمل طور پر ختم کرنے جا رہی ہے۔
بانی کنٹری مینیجر جواد رحمان نے اس فیصلے کو "ایک دور کا اختتام" قرار دیا۔ جواد رحمان نے سات سال تک کمپنی کی مقامی قیادت کی، ایک ٹیم بنائی، صارفین کی خدمت کی اور پاکستان بھر میں ڈیجیٹل انفراسٹرکچر کو وسعت دی۔
انہوں نے کہا: "یہ صرف ایک ملازمت نہیں تھی — یہ ایک مشن تھا۔ ان سالوں میں لوگوں کی بہتری، شراکت داری قائم کرنے، اعتماد کمانے اور پاکستانی نوجوانوں کی ایک نسل کے لیے مواقع پیدا کرنے کی کوشش کی گئی۔"
اپنے قیام کے دوران مائیکروسافٹ نے ملک کے دور دراز علاقوں میں سیکڑوں کمپیوٹر لیبز قائم کیں۔
مائیکروسافٹ کا انخلا ایسے وقت میں ہوا ہے جب پاکستان شدید معاشی غیر یقینی صورت حال اور بڑھتی ہوئی ڈیجیٹل خلیج کا سامنا کر رہا ہے۔ کبھی ٹیکنالوجی سرمایہ کاری کا مرکز سمجھے جانے والے ملک میں متعدد عالمی کمپنیوں نے اپنی موجودگی کم یا ختم کرنے کا فیصلہ کیا ہے۔
مائیکروسافٹ نے 2022 میں پاکستان میں مزید وسعت پر غور کیا تھا، مگر ملک میں سیاسی بحران کے بعد منصوبے بدل کر ویتنام منتقل کر دیے گئے۔
Microsoft has officially closed its operations in Pakistan, marking the end of a 25-year chapter for the global tech giant in the country.
The remaining few employees were formally informed only recently that the company was initiating a complete wind-down of its operations in Pakistan.
Founding Country Manager Jawwad Rehman defined the exit as the “end of an era”. Jawwad led the company’s local efforts for seven years, helping build a team, serve customers, and expand digital infrastructure across Pakistan.
“It wasn’t just a job—it was a calling,” Rehman shared. “Those years were about uplifting people, forming partnerships, earning trust, and creating opportunity for a generation of Pakistani youth.”
During its time in Pakistan, Microsoft built hundreds of computer labs in remote areas.
Microsoft’s exit comes at a time when Pakistan faces mounting economic uncertainty and a growing digital divide. Once considered a potential hub for tech investment, the country has seen multiple global firms reduce or reconsider their footprint.
Microsoft had earlier considered Pakistan for expansion in 2022 before shifting plans to Vietnam following political chaos in the country.
