Musharraf pressured me to read statement on nuclear profileration, claims Dr Qadeer

The pioneer of Pakistan’s nuclear programme Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan on Saturday filed a writ petition at the Lahore High Court (LHC) claiming that former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf, under the influence of the United States, had pressured on him to read a statement written by him [Musharraf] on the television.

A lawyers’ delegation, headed by advocate Muhammad Mudasar Chaudhry filed the petition in the court.

In the petition, Dr Qadeer requested the LHC to allow him to move freely and appear in-person in a case already pending at the court, restraining the security officials from creating any hindrance in doing so.

The nuclear scientist decided to move the petition in the case after he received no response from the provincial Chief Justice Sardar Shamim Ahmed Khan.

According to Dr Qadeer, Musharraf had promised him that the nuclear scientist would be restored after a few days of the speech but Musharraf did not abide by his promise. Former prime minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and lawyer SM Zafar were also witnesses in this matter, he added.

Dr Qadeer said, Justice Chaudhry Ijaz gave him some relief later but for the last three or four years, security officials had confined his moment to his home.

“I am restrained from going anywhere which is against the norms of moral values. I cannot go anywhere or attend any ceremony which is regrettable.”

Dr Qadeer requested the LHC to hear his case in an open court rather than hearing it in the chamber.

The petitioner contended the court that it was his fundamental right to plead his case himself (in person) or by his representative(s).

“The respondents (the government of Pakistan and Strategic Plans Division Force) has imposed an illegal ban on me. I wish to appear before the court in person to explain my grievances but I am being restrained.”

Dr Qadeer said his presence in the court should be made sure by the court in order to get the right facts and justice in the case.

You really think that DR A Q was the only one involved technology transfer ? With no one in govt or army knowing about anything ?
Mushy had personal issues with him, one of the incident that Mushy was insulted by AQ when he Corps commander and wanted to see some classified sites and AQ refused and insulted , later he took revenge this way.

Proliferation happened with everyone's collusion, but to say that AQ was not involved is a bit absurd considering he was the pilot of the program. Of course Musharraf took the easy way out by placing entire blame on him, but AQ Khan sold us out no doubt.
Musharraf deserves jail for this and the NROs

AQ khan should shut is pie hole and live his life in obscurity. This idiot is making a case for foreign powers against Pakistan. If he agreed to take the bullet for the country, he should remain quiet forever.

What is he saying now, that I want involved in proliferation, everyone was involved in it. That maybe be true but how dangerous this statement is for the country. This will be used as an excuse by US & Allies when it suits them.

Why doesn't ex service men, presidents, PMs, Generals, sportsman etc etc just don't know to shutup and not spill national secrets for self projection.

Yes I know. And on that note, Mush should have had the courage to take a collective stand and protect AQ Khan as well, and not make his entire career questionable. Army has done dirty jobs in the name of our nuclear scientist. These military leaders are sell outs. Recently two military officers were punished for treason. But what about top ranking officers like the army chief Musharraf who is a know traitor? That bastard Raheel Shareef forced the civilian government to let Musharraf flee from Pakistan. Gen. Aslam Beig knew what was happening to Gen. Zia in his C130 on 17 August 1988 that's why he chose to use another aircraft for his departure from Bahawalpur..yet no accountability for these Mir Jafars who have hijacked our army.

Army was involved in nuclear proliferation selling parts and technology to Iran, Libiya and North Korea. When their American masters caught with evidence they had no choice but to save the holy desi cow. Dr. A. Q. Khan was made a scapegoat because he didn't belong to a Punjabi chaudhary or jutt influential family. He could be sacrificed and wouldn't be any resistance. Even politicians wouldnt support him because he was a mohajir and not the son of the soil.

A. Q. Khan knew many generals were involved in selling out national secrets. After retirement these haramis go abroad and serve their foreign masters for American dollars. That's why Dr sahib wouldn't trust this harami Musharraf.
