Q. Army has started accountability process and in the History of Pakistan, first time in-service officers to the rank of lieutenant General have been dismissed. What is your take.
A. I am sure every one in Pakistan have watched probably every programme and discussion on this issue and know everything. What I am going to say is probably no one has discussed as yet. Although it may be wrong and based purely on my perception, still, in my view, it is very important.

He has started cleansing society of terrorists, money launderers and corrupt elements. Since he has confirmed, he will leave his office this year and he has done something marvellous to come up to the expectation of masses, he wouldn't like to leave his mission unaccomplished.

There is a strong possibility that after his retirement someone will get the charge, who would not like to continue with what General Raheel has started. To minimise this possibility he might have started accountability within the army rank.
From this one master stroke he has killed three birds with one arrow.
1. He effectively shuts the mouth of those who never stopped saying that army is sacred cow and they will never do accountability of their-self.

2. He has fired those Generals, who could create hurdle in accountability process. There is rumour that in few days another list will come to fore that include 70 to 200 more officers including Generals.
3. By sacking Generals who possibly have dissent to his policies, he will make sure that his policies be continued and his successor should continue his policies. Now he has gathered all like minded Generals and He knows, no matter which General takeover will continue with his policies.

If any General is left, may be included in next list. Even if Nawaz Sharif try to announce someone as new COAS now to sideline General Raheel and who is against General Raheels policies, he wouldn't be able to do this, until gets clearance from COAS.

Gen. Raheel couldn't have taken such a bold step of sacking Generals of different ranks until he has the unshakable support of the Corp Commanders. It would be very difficult for his descendant to overlook or ignore the policies of Raheel which has earned so much public respect and confidence. However, the approach or line of action could be different. Finally, personality of the new guy does matter.

I think the psoters is saying implyong that any general who disagreed with him , will probably get fired. Thats not the case , firings are based on corruption not disagreement. However it will be difficult for new COAS to ignore these steps taken by RS so this accountability will go on like , rather spread into the civil society as well. In addition , army mainly likes to have their good name intact so infuture , corruption will be lot more harder rather almost impossible in Army.
