I was disgusted, abhorred and horrified listening to Hassan Nisar when he made two statements on a live TV show that (1) the American were justified in dropping atomic bombs on Japan and (2) that the Mongols barbarians were right in building minarets of thousands of skulls of the local population they co conquered and he refused to accept it as barbarity (safakiat) but as a necessity to subdue and warn the vanquished people that any revolt would be dealt with ruthless and merciless severity. The barbaric, sadistic, illiterate and ruthless Mongols practiced this uncivilized, inhuman and ruthless ritual with impunity and in pursuit of their conquests massacred millions of innocent human beings where ever they went as marauding hordes of butchering the locals.
I have never heard such an ignorant, obnoxious, pugnacious and malevolent statement from any civilized and educated person on earth but from Mr Nisar whom I have considered as verbose and ignorantly arrogant person. Perhaps, Mr Nisar is not an observant student of history and comprehends little that his meagre intelligence allows him and makes subjective nonsensical opinion and view of world history. He should be banned from TV appearances.
The September 11, 2001 terrorist acts are against the teachings of Islam. I would remind the readers that after all, it was the Christian Americans who dropped atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on 6 August 1945 killing half a million innocent civilians. If the American can justify dropping atomic bombs on Japan when it had already surrendered, why then the Palestinians cannot fight with their armour which is their body? And,that the Dresden bombings (of World War 2) were European Christian terrorism;or that barbaric attacks on the abjectly poor Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank are Jewish terrorism? This is true that Judaism and Christianity teach peace and love but to suggest that Western political activities mirror those teachings is nothing short of ludicrous mendacity. Mr Nisar, do you justify genocide of Muslims in Bosnia, genocide of Muslim Kashmiris in the occupied Kashmir, genocide of innocent Palestinians and genocide of innocent Muslims in the Indians state of Gujarat only because they live or lived under the occupation of repressive and suprressive regimes that are powerful?
It is an undeniable historical fact that the religion that has mastered the art of killing is Christianity. The history of intolerance in Christianity dwarfs anything that even the Mongols committed against the humanity. The fact of the matter is that the crusader of 21st century, President George W Bush, behaved like the European Christians of July 1099 who conquered Jerusalem and killed over 70,000 in one day and turned the city into a charnel house. It makes the massacre of September 11, 2001 and those followed as mentioned above look puny in comparison. Yet in Europe scholars and monks hailed this as the greatest event in world history.
The fireballs of the New York World Trade Centre Twin Towers and the atrocious bombing of Baghdad on the first night of invasion to shock and awe the Iraqis reminds me always of the even more horrible and barbaric event of August 6, 1945, when on that clear morning the Americans dropped their atomic bombs on Hiroshima and later o world. The attack of September 11 announced that this power was no longer invulnerable even on its home ground and the two events marked the beginning and end of two historical periods in American history.
In the summer of 1945, over 60 Japanese cities had been burned down by incendiary bombing. In Tokyo, a million civilians had been made homeless and over 100,000 burned and died because of the bombing. According to Major-General Curtis Lemay, who was in charge of the fire-bombing operations, “They have been scorched, boiled and baked to death.” President Franklin Roosevelt’s son and confidant said the bombing should continue “until we have destroyed half the Japanese civilian population”. Was there any justification, Mr Nisar?
On July 18, the Japanese emperor telegraphed President Harry Truman, who had succeeded Roosevelt, and asked [for] peace but this message was ignored because of the short sighted policy: the American atomic bomb was ready to be dropped and to give the Japanese a bloody nose. A few days before the bombing of Hiroshima, Vice-Admiral William Radford boasted,“Japan will eventually be a nation without cities - a nomadic people.” General Leslie Groves, who was military director of the Manhattan Project for planning and manufacturing the bomb, hastily assured congressman that radiation caused no “undue suffering”.
There was no need at all to drop atomic bombs on Japan when it was ready to surrender. I shudder to think and thank God that the fireball of the Twin Towers did not leave radioactive dust but feel piercing pain to think about the suffering of the innocent civilians who died on August 6, 1945, believing that the sun had fallen on their heads and hell started on their cities. Mr Nisar, you must read world history not with your blurred vision and wearing blinkers over your head. Please do not misguide millions of Pakistani audiences listening to you on TV shows.
President G W Bush used power as if he ruled a jungle and applied his jungle laws jungle where nothing functions but dominance of a rogue leader of the pack of wolves who demands obedience and submission and enforces its authority by violent methods. In any case his philosophy o fnew imperialism was thrust upon only on the Muslim world. It was a redefined and its remodelled version was in the disguise of democracy, freedom, liberty etc (made respectable) but is as old as we know that it is nothing but greedy, ugly and perverse capitalism.
