Debate kis baat per ho gi?
Its all good to have talks but I am going to again say that legitimizing a group that indiscriminately targets civilians is a bad idea.
What I don't understand is that people say that we are fighting a war. Which war are we talking about? What was the last time that you heard that Pakistani army attacked a Taliban base or killed or captured any members of Taliban? I can tell you more than a few attacks that were claimed by Talibans over the last couple of months. What kind of one sided war is this? Even when they conducted daring raids against the mehran base, or ghq or kamra base the military didn't even launch a retaliatory attack even to put up a show. It would have been okay if they had just stuck to attacking the state institutions and the military since they are equipped to handle that sort of attacks but targeting innocent civilians and proudly claiming responsibility is something else. It shows that they don't really stand for any principles when they blow up people in the mosques or markets or shrines or funerals. This is the most dangerous aspect of their campaign. They have shown that they are more than just a little unhappy at their treatment by the state.
This is way too simplistic to say that they need an office so that they can be considered a legitimate organization and will have a platform to spread their message. Not sure what that message is. Not sure what their goals are. And, its not a lack of media exposure that they have not conveyed that message. They can put videos of cutting people's throats withing hours, their spokesperson has the numbers for all domestic and foreign media outlets. What has kept them from disseminating their message?
The state, no matter how bad, should still have the upper hand and unless taliban agree to play according to the rules that every other group follows then they should not be accorded any favors. This doesn't mean that some of their demands can't be accepted and their legitimate grievances be addressed but that should only happen when they agree to accept the writ of the government.
