Ibn Battuta was scholar and traveller who is known for the account of his travels and excursions called the Rihla (Voyage). His journeys lasted for a period of nearly thirty years and covered almost the entirety of the known Islamic world and beyond, extending from North Africa, West Africa, Southern Europe and Eastern Europe in the West, to the Middle East, Indian subcontinent, Central Asia, Southeast Asia and China in the East, a distance readily surpassing that of his predecessors and his near-contemporary Marco Polo.
He was one of the greatest Muslim historian that ever lived and lived in India for many years, assimilated with the locals, learnt to speak and write Sanskrit, Hindi and many regional languages and admired few things in the Indian custom and culture but detested many of its daily and religious rituals. He wrote that at the end of his travel: on the one side Hindu mythology transcends to heaven but at the same time it falls down into cow dung with its abject, frivolous and nefarious religious philosophy of inhuman Caste System and worshiping any and everything walking on four legs on its belly (rats, snakes, lizards, cows, monkeys, elephants) and man-made deities in stone and wood.
In the Hindu ethos, it is also considered a sacred ritual to bathe as many orthodox Hindus do in cow's urine for spiritual enlightenment and taking a cow dung message for physical healing. They love sharing a plate of rice and dal with their rat bhagwans in Rajasthan temples for spiritual reward. Whilst, I admit that Bharat is one of the ancient civilizations of the world, and its religious mythology transcends to cosmos but at the same time its ethos sinks deep in the cow dung of 'cow mata'.
Indian caste system is embedded in the Hindu religion and the most essential part of its theology. The untouchable Hindus are shunned by majority and not allowed to eat with non-untouchables, sit on the same table, sit together on a sofa next and attend the same church or religious ceremonies with a higher caste Hindu? The fact of the matter is that that the Hindu caste system is not a division of labour as claimed to distinguish the untouchables but it is in fact the stigma and label of birth as preached by the Hindu religion.
An untouchable was born an untouchable since the inception of Hindu ethos over thousands of years ago and remains so even today. He she is not treated as an equal in the Hindu society because for thousands of years, they have been carrying the certificate (classification of birth) "untouchable". India cannot claim to be a secular state and a democracy when over 50% of its masses are treated as untouchables and shunned by the few higher-caste Hindus as outcasts and the lowest of Indian society. The caste system still prevails in India, though on January 26, 1950, the constitution of India abolished it, which left many innocent Shudras ruthlessly abused and massacred by upper-caste people like Brahmins.
Shudra according to Vedas is classified as the lowest of the four castes. The ideal society prescribed by the Vedas is known by the name Chaturvarna and must satisfy three conditions and must be composed of four classes, Brahmins, Kshatriyas, Vaishyas and Shudras.. The interrelations of these classes must be regulated by the principle of graded inequality. In other words, all these classes are not to be on equal level but to be one above the other, in point of status, rights and privileges. The Brahmins were placed at the top; the Kshatriyas were placed below the Brahmins but above the Vaishyas; the Vaishyas were placed below the Kshatriyas but above the Shudras and the Shudras were placed the lowest of all. Brahmin was born from Hindu god Vishnus head; Kshatriya from his chest; Vaishyas from his thigh and Shudras from his foot and introduced the caste system, which is considered to be the most iniquitous.
The Shudra were born to do menial jobs for all the three superior classes. A Shudra enjoyed no rights or privileges. He was not permitted to perform any religious, sacrifices , read or learn the Vedas or recite the mantras. A Shudra could marry only another Shudra. He was not allowed to enter temples and could only serve the upper three castes as a slave, barber, blacksmith or cobbler. A Shudra was forbidden to walk side by with a Brahim or hear him recite religious sermons and if found of the guilt of the crime, the Shudra was punished by pouring molten iron in his ears. Indian culture is still riddled with the most socially iniquitous, prejudiced, discriminating society that defiles human conscious, logic and wisdom. India is neither a democracy or a secular state but a fundamentalist Hindu state and the fake gloss of democracy is to fool the world. Even, they give their WMDS, nuclear sites, nuclear bombs, nuclear missiles and rockets Hindu gods and goddesses names to demonstrate their Hindu fanaticism and fundamentalism.
Muslim rule of India for nearly 1200 years was the most glorious, harmonious and prosper in the Indian history. Islam is the most peaceful, tolerant and magnanimous religion, which allowed total freedom and human rights to non-Muslims living in its domain. Despite ruling India for nearly 1200 years, Muslims never forced Hindus and Buddhist to convert to Islam but millions of minorities converted willingly to Islam to escape the distasteful Hindu caste system and a large number of Buddhists converted to Islam to escape persecution from Hindu fundamentalists and fanatics.
