لاہور (خصوصی نامہ نگار) حکومت نے میٹرو بس سروس کے لئے 59 کروڑ روپے کے فنڈز جاری اور ارفع کریم ٹاور میں کنٹرول روم بھی قائم کر دیا گیا ہے، ایم بی ایس اتھارٹی نے وزیراعلیٰ کو کم از کم بیس روپے کرایہ کی سفارش بھی کی ہے، ذرائع کے مطابق بس سروس کی تنصیبات، سٹیشنز اور سفر کو محفوظ بنانے کے لئے ایس پی عہدے کے افسر کو ذمہ داری سونپ دی گئی ہے۔ ذرائع کے مطابق ابھی فری سفر کی سہولت کی مدت میں کمی بیشی کا کوئی فیصلہ نہیں کیا گیا۔ وزیراعلیٰ پنجاب اس حوالے سے فیصلے کریں گے۔ معلوم ہوا ہے کہ 59 کروڑ روپے کے فنڈز کے اجراءسے سروس تین ماہ بلا تعطل چلائی جا سکے

Now this has proven that ShowBaz Sharif launched a political project. Fare must be determined by the professional authority rather asking people on the street. What a dumb CM we have. This is people who are asking to implement fare to protect the buses. What a shame.

Friday, February 15, 2013 - RawalpindiProvincial Higher Education Department has provided nine girls colleges of Rawalpindi Division with air-conditioned buses worth more than Rs 40 million.

The step has been taken on the directives of Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif. It is going to do away with the problems related to transportation of the students of girls colleges in Wah Cantt, D-Block Satellite Town, Gojar Khan, Attock, Jund, Pind Daden Khan, Hassan Abdal, and Dina.

More buses will be provided to educational institutions of Punjab in the second stage of the plan.

Please view this video. You will know how these buses came and used.On the contrary, existing bus system collapsed and companies went bankrupt in other parts of the Lahore city. You can find this news item in this thread. Media do not highlight these things due to the known reasons. Metro Bus Service fare
Punjab Govt, Albarak sign MoU

LahoreThe Punjab government is agreed in principle to pay Rs.360 per kilometer to the Turkish company Albarak for running buses under the Metro Bus Service Project (MBS) in Lahore, it is learnt.

According to the sources in the government, bus fare agreement has been signed between the Punjab government and Albarak administration and according to this pact the government is bound to pay Rs360 per kilometer to the company. The sources revealed that the Punjab government had announced a very affordable fare which would be within the reach of every common man but the losses would be huge for the government to endure it for a long time.

The sources said by signing pact of Rs360 per kilometer with Albarak company; the government will have to bear the loss of Rs1.1 million on daily basis even after collecting bus fares from commuters.

The sources further said the Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif announced a month ago that the metro bus service would be completely free of cost for the people in the first four weeks and in this case, the loss will be worth of Rs106 millions for the government. There is no doubt this will be a unique bus service in Pakistan and the Punjab governments ambition to revolutionize the transport system in Lahore by giving it a new identity will get applause across the board, he added.

The sources said the Albarak was purchasing 45 buses from a Chinese bus company for Metro Bus Service and the Albarak administration in Pakistan assured the Punjab government of availability of the these buses in the month of November and for this purpose the deadline was announced November 25 but now due to delay in delivery of these buses the new date of their arrival in Lahore has been fixed till the end of the month December.

Government of Punjab has launched Yellow Taxicab Scheme for the unemployed people of province. 20,000 taxis distributed among qualified applicants. Only 10 percent trained cab drivers got the car. Almost 9,000 people have been trained to drive taxis but just 900 had received vehicles by the end of 2011 under the Yellow Cab Scheme, the Punjab governments flagship job creation programme. The government allocated Rs4.5 billion in the 2011-12 budget to launch the scheme, under which unemployed youths would get 12,000 Suzuki Mehrans and 8,000 Suzuki Bolans to drive as taxis.

The Bank of Punjab was the only option available to the provincial government as all other leading banks were now privatised and the government does not hold any influence on them, says the note. The scheme was not planned very well described by DCO.


Criticism :-

PML-N did not learn lessons from the past and jeopardize Bank of Punjab for their political ambitions. They did not develop taxi industry in Punjab. There is no guarantee that BOP will recover money from people after the collapse of Government. Most people, who got the vehicles, have seen using them as private cars. Critics say the Punjab government used the scheme for political leverage and in most cases the vehicles were given to PML-N workers or their relatives. It is surprising to note that hardly a yellow cab of the scheme plies city roads.
