Zimbabwe XI bowled the Pakistanis out for 222, and safely negotiated a 13-over spell before stumps, to complete a solid performance on the first day of the two-day tour match in Bulawayo.
Choosing to bowl, Zimbabwe knocked over openers Mohammad Hafeez and Taufeeq Umar cheaply, before coming up against a solid century stand by Younis Khan and Azhar Ali. The pair was patient in the rebuilding process, scoring at strike-rates of about 50.00, but also struck 20 boundaries between them. However, Ali was run out for 67 by Natsai Mushangwe and Younis fell soon after to Greg Lamb's offspin, triggering a collapse. Lamb went on to claim two more middle-order wickets, one of them being Misbah-ul-Haq for a 36-ball duck as the Pakistanis slipped to 222 all out.
Chamu Chibhabha and Tino Mawoyo then batted out a short spell before stumps, as none of the four Pakistani bowlers on show, Sohail Khan, Junaid Khan, Aizaz Cheema and Yasir Shah, managed an early breakthrough.
