Number of Provinces in Pakistan

A country like Afghanistan has currently 34 provinces.
I think breaking up the provinces in to smaller units (maybe a total of around 10-12) is urgently needed for administrative reasons alone. The political benefits just add to that.
Most important is the FATA question. We will have to integrate them fully into Pakistan and now is the time. That will mean a FATA province of some sort. That will be the opening for also dealing with other provinces.
Zardari government started talking about this issue but then every thing came to a halt when PML-N started objecting that this is the conspiracy against PML-N, as PML-N hold is in punjab and dividing Punjab wont be beneficial to Nawaz Sharif.

to divide provinces in more numbers i don't think so that is useful for Pakistan because in 4 province we have a four different communities that is Sindhi, Punjabi Balouchi, Pashtoon, & in Sindh we have 2 community that is sindhi & muhajir and through the gift of politician they all hate each others,,, so after increasing no. of provinces what do you think how many communities we will create more and we all know we have a big no. of politician who deals in community base politics,, so if we increase the no. of provinces we will also increase the hates against each other and we will give the benefits to Qoaum Parast (Zaban Parast) politicians & it will also help the foreign elements to break Pakistan in to many peaces

Iran's population is less than population of Punjab while they have 34 states. Turkey's population is also less than Punjab while they have 91 states. We should have at least 30 to 50 states.

No need to make further provinces, like states in other countries we have a lot of districts, for management there is a district headquarters, kutchehry, municipal corporations, hospitals and lots of administrative setup. Proper Hierarchy is important and normally it exists but is not functioning in the right manner. If it is not working good, more province option won't do anything better. It is better to make the existing system better by improving it district wise. If some district is ignored, this implies their people are still sticking to wadera system whose wadera doesn't feel to take pain to improve the life there.
All over the world states, provinces or departments have similar but far more efficient setup. If Baluchistan could be ignored any other small or large province would be ignored and people will be distanced.

You may be right that most of the administration can be given under districts but I believe, what you are suggesting could have worked better under the current Nazim system setup and not under the provisional system.

This new government conveniently removing the Baldiati system (so that they will be able to swallow/steal more funds) and we are going back to allocating all the funds to provinces that will come from the federal government. I believe, we will need to create more provinces to make the provisional administration system better.

Also, I believe, that we should not divide the current provinces on the basis of ethnicity. We should create at least around 15-20 provinces from the current ones on the basis of population where each province would have a population of about 1 crore people.
