'Musharraf conveyed fabricated stories on Kargil'

Pakistan troops and people were conveyed only fabricated stories about the Kargil War by then army chief General Pervez Musharraf, according to a senior Pakistani commander having long experience of serving on the Line of Control.

Former Quetta corps commander Lt. General (retired) Tariq Pervez said: "At the beginning of the Kargil conflict, Musharraf, Mehmood and their cronies had tried to display their feelings that they had achieved what I had thought impossible."

"I conveyed that like every Pakistani in uniform, I would have been too happy if the Indians were beaten. Later, it was proved that only fabricated stories were conveyed to the troops and the public," he added.

Lt. General Tariq said Pakistani causalities were in great number and the claims about building bunkers proved false. The fact remains that no precautionary measures were made to ensure victory or the safety of life of the troops; The News quoted him, as saying.

When asked as to what were his differences with Musharraf and why he as corps commander met Nawaz Sharif bypassing him, Lt General Tariq Pervez said "their differences on professional matters were old. They had multiplied during the Kargil adventure where Lt. General Mehmood and Lt. General Aziz were also involved."

"During the briefings on Kargil, Musharraf used to boast over his successes. However, I wanted to be heard in those meetings and transfer my long experiences as commander over the Line of Control. I was keen that the army benefits from my experiences," he said.

Lt. General Tariq said he had met Musharraf early in October 1999 on news that he was immediately being retired from service. "He just gave me a couple of days more when requested that sufficient time should be given so that one can make up his mind as it had been a long service in the Army".

It was Lt. Gen Tariq's perception that by the time he met Musharraf, he had already made up his mind to overthrow the Nawaz Sharif Government. "The day he took over, it was my last day in uniform," he said.

He recalled that although it smelled fishy on October 12, 1999, but he never knew that such a major step was on the anvil.

Tracing the track that moved Musharraf to the office of the Army chief, Lt General Tariq disclosed that he used to meet Nawaz Sharif without taking even Army Chief General Jehangir Karamat into confidence and assured complete loyalty and service, if promoted.

Former Quetta corps commander Lt. General (retired) Tariq Pervez has been kicked by Musharraf before 12 Oct. 1999.

Musharraf wrote about him in his book ....In the Line of Fire (CHAPTER 13, THE CONSPIRACY)

"I was recommending the retirement of the corps commander in Quetta, Lieutenant General Tariq Pervez. He was ill-disciplined, and I suspected him of plotting against me. The problem was that TP, as he was known in the army, was the brother-in-law of one of Nawaz Sharif's ministers and was using his relative's influence to bring about a premature change in the army's high command so as to position himself for promotion in the future.

"Give me one day," replied Shahbaz. The next day I was with the prime minister at his lunch for Admiral Bukhari, the navy chief. Sure enough, the prime minister took me aside and said, "I am also making you chairman of the Joint Chiefs of StafFCommittee. Are you happy?" I said I was, now that I was staying on as army chief as well. But I told him that TP had to go and that I was going to recommend his retire-ment, as he was undermining military discipline. Nawaz Sharif feigned ignorance of who TP was, though I knew he was pretending. Yet he agreed to retire TR Later I sent TP's dismissal papers to the prime min-ister, who promptly approved them.".....

I agree with u Spartecus.this TP was an ill disciplined officer and was doing all this on th instructions from a PML leader who assutred him for promotion to the rank of Gen as pak army chief.so any one could make out that that Tp is not speaking truth.what ever he is saying will help to boost the moral of Indian troops and may affect the reputation of Pak army. it is a hostile move and must be checked.

The Guy who broke the Constitution of Pakistan and brought an illegal coup against the Government is telling others that one of the Army Generals had disciplin problem ? Kargil was proven disastrous for Pakistan and those common soldiers who were sent in to stay in primitive bunkers were left to be slaughtered by Indian Army and Air force. The dead bodies of those who were brave enough to stay there and fought Indians afterward were not recognized by this bastard and left to the Indian Army . You think he has credibility problem ? I guess he has a big gash in the arsol that no lie can fill. Those who can sell their own native people for $5k per person and brage about it in his book can not be and should not be trusted for his words.
By the admissions of all these Generals who were playing with the destiny of Pakistan and Pakistani people are the big treators of this country. In another country , they would be facing courts and laws instead of getting the invitation in to the electronic media for their lies and games against Pakistani nation. I don't understand where all these people will take Pakistan to. They are not leader or soldiers. They are pathatic piece of trash which still stinks after many years. They needed to be wiped out from the face of the earth.

Bhai who is musharraf to tell that who is ill mannered or un disciplined.. Do all of you know about the RED MARKS on MUSH ACR.. He left his post just for a woman..Was he disciplined himself.. Also after hearing so much news & views from other politicians, i think CH NISAR is an agent, who for some reasons appointed MUSH as CHIEF bypassing far better GENERALS like ALI KULI KHAN or others... May be i am wrong.. But MUSH is no more better than TIGER NIAZI.. Same traitors..

Come on Fursan . Kargil was never a victory. I think you are unaware of facts. Please have some research before claiming it a victory.

THIS IS RECENT HISTORY. HOW CAN YOU GET IT SO WRONG. IMAGINE ABOUT THINGS THAT HAPPENED HUNDREDS OF YEARS AGO.
IF YOU THINK WE DID WELL IN KARGIL. THEN YOU MUST BE MUSHARRAF LOVER AND MEMBER OF MQM.

Strategic Man ? If Kargil was such a victory which this nation desired , than the fall of Dhakka was even a bigger victory since we got rid of the half of the country. We lost the Kashmir during this dictator time and never repeated the UNO resolutions in front of international communities and Indians. Ass kissers and Dictator worshippers are no doubt miss this foolish General.
