SLAMABAD: The federal government on Monday announced that it would conduct a judicial probe into the recent statements by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif accusing President Asif Ali Zardari of making threats against him, DawnNews reported. Addressing a press conference at the Press Information Department, former law minister Senator Babar Awan said that the federal government had taken serious notice of Mr Sharif’s statements.
Calling the statements irresponsible and non-serious, Mr Awan said the government was approaching for a judicial probe into the accusations against President Zardari.
Concerned officials have been directed regarding the formation of a judicial commission in this regard, he said.
On the other hand, Senator Mushahidullah Khan, Secretary Information of the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N), said that Mr Sharif was “not irresponsible like the Pakistan People’s Party leadership” and that Mr Sharif had evidence to support the allegations he had made against President Zardari.
