Iran: Artificial Intelligence-based COVID-19 diagnosis system

A new AI-based COVID-19 diagnosis system was unveiled by Iranian government officials in Tehran on Saturday. "We have also been able to develop a new method with new technology in the field of artificial intelligence in order to detect the disease," explained Iranian Vice-President for Science and Technology Sorena Sattari adding that the new system should bring a "new perspective" to the diagnosis and treatment of the virus. "This system is a smart system which detects COVID-19 easily by analysing CT scans of the chest. When it comes to its qualities, this method is very cheap and just a CT scan image is needed and the rest of the tasks will be done by the system through artificial intelligence," said Artificial Intelligence Professor at Sharif University of Technology Hamid Rabiee, who helped develop the system. The CT-scan based new method comes as the country has reported a shortage of radiologists. Iran has reported 55,743 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 3,452 people have died after contracting the virus, as of Saturday.

I understand what you are saying and do not deny that.
But machine costs are artificial and one-time whereas the operational/human costs are the "real" costs - In that sense AI solutions are cheap. It takes the human/expertise/skill factors out, which results in scalability. AI reduces or minimizes the human error costs as well. Then these are adaptable:. if it succeed in case of one pathogen than the diagnostic of another is a software upgrade away on the same machine and operator, with further research and improvement. AI community has been promising and have long worked on such diagnostic systems, to reduce costs, and for reliable and remote diagnoses.
Let's appreciate what is coming!! Kudos for Iranian research.
The man who had devised current real-time PCR diagnosis (used for coronavirus test) was awarded Nobel for it however this is not the first AI solution in this field.

I appreciate any and all efforts to find a solution . I am also close to the conclusion that it is not unreasonable to think that something is fishy and out of ordinary . But what that something is , hard to find out and even harder to prove.

could be helpful but I dont think its that simple, everyone is working towards the solution and coming up the ideas, not any success yet though

Just looking at their graph, they are doing a tremendous job after getting a sudden spike in the beginning

They had a very bad week, reaching at peak of new cases on 30th march but since then the number of new cases is gradually declining.
However there are currently about 4K+ people in the critical care and the number of deaths will rise for some time. Overall, it seems, they have done well after initial mistakes.
