Don't know until they reach the bottom of this statement. On the other side MQM still holds terror in Karachiites hearts so for IK to compaign in Karachi will be very difficult without the consent of Karachi goons.
Woh kehte hein na darya mein ja kar magarmach se dushmani nahin kr sakte.

Banning the party altogether would only aggravate the situation NOT defuse it.
Keep MQM alive and let it die itself - why even bother about banning it?
Let it be politically divided and weakened; then, it would either lose its steam or it would change things for the better.
Improve the policing situation and keep checks on any criminal activities (like it is being done now).
Make sure to create opportunities for the youth and the crimes will gradually slow down. The fact of the matter is whenever a person commits something wrong, the political mafia uses him for his nefarious activities. Once the youth becomes part of the mainstream, they will start rejecting the violent form politics. This piece is the hardest right now given the economic situation in Pakistan; yet, this is the only solution that can move the youth away from the political violence.
While the above is being done: Keep harping upon the line that the statements "Gainda" has committed is form of "treason".
Furthermore, it is going to take 1 or 2 generations to eliminate the stains Altaf has left on the streets of Karachi; these stains are not going to go away any time soon just because it is banned.
On the other hand, if it is banned, the more people are going to think they are being targeted for their so-called Muhajir ethnicity (which is not true as my Nana was Hakeem Saeed's classmate and proudly claim my family has never have been discriminated against just because of our background). The Gainda and its mafia cashes on the sentiments of the poor people which became strong during Bhutto's era; that era is gone but NOT the hatred he fomented. The same violent mafia would join another party and would still create problems in the future.
Finally, the state's responsibility is to DEFEAT the ideology the Gainda has spread through his filthy mouth for several decades. The state does not simply place the ban and then expect everything would just be fine.
So, please don't shoot yourself on the foot!

This is because it is not the people alone but the mindset. The Nazi party and same like MQM manifesto promotes racism/regionalism. As per the constitution of Pakistan no party is allowed to do Politics based on Language, cast or regional prejudices.
Banning the party, would destroy the platform for them to operate. As long as MQM remains, it will always consider Altaf as their founding fathers. Would you accept it?
