Halal or Harram

Assalamoalakum Wr Wbr,
Brothers I need your advise on 2 issues at hand.
One small request, kindly give reference from Quran and Hadees .
Logic is also welcome.

1) My brother works for a company that specializes in making StainLess steel products. He is an expert in making anything from stainless steel. On top of his salary , he also gets a good bonus for every task.
He has just been given a big task for making a few products for a 5 star hotel. From the designing , it looks like , it will be used to store the bottles of wines. If he refuse to do it, he risk his job and salary. If he does it, there is hige bonus and good books and promotion waiting for him.
My question is, making the stuff that he thinks might be used for wine and alcohal bottles (he is 80 % sure of that), is he sinful ? Kindly reply with Quran, Hadees and logic.

2) And now that I have your attention, what is the Islamic ruling of working for a bank or any financial company, that you fear will be paying you from the interest it generates from the money in the bank.

Once again, please reply with Quran, Hadeees and logic and no sectarian voilence please.

بھائی سٹین لیس سٹیل کا کام کرتے ہیں ، اب سٹین لیس سٹیل کے تو چاکو چھڑیاں بھی ہوتے ہیں ، چھری کا اچھا استعمال بھی ہے برا بھی ، پھل فروٹ کاٹے جا سکتے ہیں اور بندے کے پار بھی کیا جا سکتا ہے ، اب چھری بناننے والا یہ سوچنا شروع ہو جائے کے اس سے لوگوں کی جان جائے گی تو وہ تو کبھی نہیں بنا سکتا ، لہٰذا چیز بری نہیں ہوتی اسکا استعمال صحیح یا غلط ہوتا ہے ، بھائی ایک شیلف بنا رہے ہیں ، اب اس میں کوئی شراب رکھے یا قران یہ انکا مسلہ نہیں ہونا چاہیے

ہاں اگر یہ کلیر پتہ ہے کہ یہ کسی شراب خانے کے لئے بن رہا ہے تب شاید کچھ اور رولنگ ہو

Regarding first question if you google virtually all responses are that it is haraam even to sell to non Muslim.

Though I must say all the Quran and Hadith sources they quote are non specific to muslim/nonmuslim.

So I think I'd at least like to see a better explanation of why exactly it'd be haraam to sell it to someone who doesn't consider it haraam to consume it and will just get it elsewhere if you don't provide.

Also if your bro is really worried he could always do they job and then donate the financial windfall from it.

Regarding second point again I think majority opinion is its haraam. Though I think some people make distinction between usury and interest (per se). Ie usury (exorbitant interest) is what might be forbidden and not nominal interest (which is what most banks deal in).

From a secular point of view this makes much sense to me. If you look at western societies they've built framework around the former. Loan sharking is banned. Debtor can declare bankruptcy. laws are stricter now about loan eligibility criteria.

Also there seems to be a need for nominal interest loans deposits (which is why they exist - proof seems to be in the pudding).

Whether there is some overriding Divine reason that would ban nominal interest too of course we don't know. The closest I come to sensing nominal interest might not be banned is from this verse:

"...believe do not eat up Riba doubled and redoubled (Quran 3:129-130 )."

For interest to double at say 7% real rate of return (which is quite high I don't think most banks charge anywhere near that) it'd take over 10 years. So not likely to double/quadruple in a hurry. Unlike with usury (say 20% rate). Sort of stuff you hear happens in villages in PK and the debtor ends up becoming personal slave for remaining life.

Having said that there is another verse that seems to be talking about keeping principal only as ok. So maybe that lends weight to the majority view that all interest is haraam:


"(2:279) But if you fail to do so, then be warned of war from Allah and His Messenger. If you repent even now, you have the right of the return of your capital; neither will you do wrong nor will you be wronged."

There is a saying by Hazrat Omar (ra) along the lines that he wished Prophet (pbuh) had had more time to explain regarding riba. The final prohibition I think had come towards the end of his (pbuh) time here.

So if Hazrat Omar (ra) wasn't 100% clear no wonder we struggle with this now too.

دین کا مسئلہ کسی عالم سے پوچھنے کے آداب ہوتے ہیں، سائل کو جس بات کا علم نہ ہو صرف اس کا سوال کرنا چاہیے ناکہ جواب ملنے پر اپنے یا کسی اور کے دلائل لاکر مناظرہ کرنا چاہیے، ہاں اگر کسی مسئلہ میں تحقیق مزید کرنا چاہیے تو اہل علم کی کتب ودروس کی طرف رجوع کریں۔
میں پیشے کے لحاظ سے فارماسسٹ ہوں اور علم الکلام میں بھی شد بد رکھتا ہوں، اگر میں آپ کے پہلے سوال کا تجزیہ کروں تو پہلی بات یہ کہ شراب شیشے کے برتن میں اسٹور کی جاتی ہے، دھات کا برتن نا پسندیدہ ہے، اس لئے آپ یہ گمان ذہن سے نکال دیں کہ ہوٹل والے اس میں شراب رکھیں گے، ویسے بھی دین میں بدگمانی روا نہیں ہے۔
البتہ شراب اور سود کے کاروبار سے متعلق حدیث بیان کر دیتا ہوں۔
شراب کے متعلق رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم کے تاثرات حضرت انس رضی اللہ عنہ نے بیان کئے ہیں: رسول اللہ صلی اللہ علیہ وسلم نے شراب کے سلسلہ میں دس لوگوں پر لعنت فرمائی ہے، شراب کشید کرنے والا، جس کیلئے کشید کی جائے، پینے والا، اٹھانے والا جس کی خاطر اٹھائی جائے، پلانے والا، فروخت کرنے والا، اس کی قیمت کھانے والا، اسے خریدنے والا اور جس کیلئے خریدی گئی ہے، سب لعنتی ہیں۔ (مسند امام احمد ص ۲۵، ج ۲)
قرآنِ کریم میں مسلمانوں کو خطاب کرکے کہا گیا ہے:

یٰٓأَیُّھَا الَّذِیْنَ اٰمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللهَ وَذَرُوْا مَا بَقِیَ مِنَ الرِّبٰٓوا اِنْ کُنْتُمْ مُّوٴْمِنِیْنَ، فَاِنْ لَّمْ تَفْعَلُوْا فَأْذَنُوْا بِحَرْبٍ مِّنَ اللهِ وَرَسُوْلہ (البقرة: ۲۷۸، ۲۷۹)

ترجمہ: اے ایمان والو! اللہ سے ڈرو اور سود کا جو بقایا رہتا ہے اسے یک لخت چھوڑ دو، اگر تم مسلمان ہو۔ اور اگر تم ایسا نہیں کرتے تو خدا اور اس کے رسول کی طرف سے اعلانِ جنگ سن لو!
تمام بد سے بدتر کبیرہ گناہوں کی فہرست سامنے رکھو اور دیکھو کہ کیا کسی گنہگار کے خلاف خدا اور رسول کی طرف سے اعلانِ جنگ کیا گیا ہے؟ اور پھر یہ سوچو کہ جس بدبخت کے خلاف خدا اور رسول میدانِ جنگ میں اُتر آئیں اس کا کیا حشر ہوگا؟
