Genetic engineering: The world's greatest scam?

Genetic engineering is a threat to food security, especially in a changing climate. The introduction of genetically manipulated organisms by choice or by accident grossly undermines sustainable agriculture and in so doing, severely limits the choice of food we can eat.

Once GE plants are released into the environment, they are out of control. If anything goes wrong - they are impossible to recall.

GE contamination threatens biodiversity respected as the global heritage of humankind, and one of our world's fundamental keys to survival.

There is sort of exaggeration in this report. They have just mentioned all the possible negetive aspects of the GE.
I won't mention dozens of postive aspects of animal GE however even in plant GE there is alot of goods going on.
For instance, the viral problems with Cassava in african countries. GE is making it possible to grow better organic cassava ( with G5 protein- Gene silencing and siRNA plus protein enhancing) in african countires where cassave is the major source of food for poor people.
Secondly, the biticotton growth in India. Where usual cotton growth was badly affected by geminiviruses. Genetically modification boomed up the cotton economy though farmers were not initially interested in the process.......:)
Pros and Cons exist together.

If there is more harm than good in someething, then it is enough to mention the bad aspects of it. The fact is, its all about capitalism - make the most profit. Cigarette industry does the same, pharmaceuticals the same.. all about profit not about increasing food production or making it better for the goodness of humanity.

I recommend people to read a very good book "The End of Food". The author did good research on the topic and brings interesting facts to the attention of a reader.
