I would be the last person to defend the moustachioed general :) But this was clearly a failure on the part of the civilian administration.

The case is not in a military court. Bail had to be issued - its the lack of the civilian administration to have not been able to investigate and
prosecute those who were using this girl.

When you have people like Khose and Naek jumping in to save her then this was on the cards. Unless you torture her or make her disappear
its very hard to get a confession :)

pakistan law is different from UK law. currency smuggling is different crime from money laundering. both cases are very different.

in altaf case cash was found from his home and no source is given. in ayan's case cash is found from her bag at the airport and source given later was sale of real estate. nawaz sharif delayed the framing of charges for few months to send this issue into cold storage. while media was more interested in her appearance rather than her the actual crime.

this is how democratic institutions weakened the case and treated a serious crime as something ordinary. since then large amounts of cash has been recovered from homes and yatchs. Again reiterates the importance of punishing the criminals involved in money laundering to discourage this practice.
