Transparency International has claimed that corruption has been increased by 400 percent in Pakistan during last three years, the officers of police and electricity departments were among the most corrupt people. According to Transparency Internationals annual report for 2009, Judiciary has improved dramatically and it went down from No 3 to No 7 position in corruption, whereas, corruption has also been lowered in customs and taxation departments. Around 66 percent persons declared local bodies system as corrupt while 77 percent termed medias role as positive during a survey conducted for the report. The report states that every family has to pay approximately Rs 9428 as bribery amounting to lower level corruption of Rs 195 billion. The police department is top of the list while the other positions are as follows: power sector, health, revenue department, education, taxation, judiciary, local governments and customs. On the other hand, Peoples Partys Secretary Information Fauzia Wahab has termed Transparency Internationals report as malicious and said that the government was ready to face any criticism.
