LAHORE - A delegation of investors of a prominent construction company of Turkey met Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday and discussed scope of investment in infrastructure and other sectors in Pakistan especially Punjab.
Talking to the delegation, the chief minister said that there was a vast scope of investment in infrastructure sector in the province and investment by Turk investors would be welcomed.
“Infrastructure plays a key role in speedy progress and the Punjab government is spending billions of rupees on infrastructure development in the province,” the CM held. He said that a big programme of construction and repair of rural roads has been started in Punjab and a huge sum of Rs150 billion will be spent for this purpose during next three years.
He said that Turkish investors can make investment in the construction and rehabilitation programme of rural roads. The Chief Minister further said that there are strong friendly relations between Turkey and Pakistan and the economic ties between the two countries are strengthening with the passage of time. He said that a number of Turkish companies are working in different sectors in collaboration with Punjab government.
The Turkish investors said that there is a conducive atmosphere for investment in Punjab and they want to make investment in the province. Provincial Minister for Communication & Works Tanvir Aslam Malik, Chairman Lahore Transport Company Khawaja Ahmad Hasaan, Secretary Communication & Works, Commissioner Lahore Division and concerned officers were present in the meeting.
Meanwhile, Shahbaz Sharif said that the concerned departments and institutions worked in a professional manner during cricket series between Pakistan and Zimbabwe and through effective measures they foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy and proved that they can face any challenge.
The chief minister appreciated the hard work of concerned departments which led to the success of Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket series. He said that cricket fans after six years got the opportunity to see excellent cricket and this series will play a key role in the revival of international cricket in Pakistan.
He was addressing a function held in honour of the authorities of concerned institutions and departments for making excellent arrangements for Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket series, on Tuesday. Tributes were also paid to the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif with regard to arrangements between Pakistan-Zimbabwe cricket series.
Shahbaz Sharif lauded the efforts of the concerned institutions for ensuring success of the cricket series and said that cabinet committee on law & order, district administration of Lahore, police, Pakistan Cricket Control Board and law enforcement agencies made foolproof arrangements for this purpose.
He said that administration, police and law enforcement institutions discharged their responsibilities in an efficient manner considering it a national obligation.
The chief minister said that he on behalf of Punjab government fully appreciates the excellent performance of administration, police, law enforcement institution and Pakistan Cricket Control Board.
