Can Islam and Democracy Coexist?

According to the Holy Quran, people have a free choice to adopt any system of rule which suits them. Democracy, sovereignty, tribal or feudal systems are valid provided they are accepted by the people as the traditional heritage of their society. However, it seems that democracy is preferred and highly commended in the Holy Quran. Holy Quran say’s

"Verily, Allah commands you to give over the trusts to those entitled to them, and that, when you judge between men, you judge with justice."(4:59)

There are only two pillars to the Islamic concept of democracy. Democratic process of elections must be based on trust and integrity. Islam teaches that whenever you exercise your vote, do it with the consciousness that God is watching over you and will hold you responsible for your decision. Vote for those who are most capable of discharging their national trust and are in them trustworthy. Governments must function on the principle of absolute justice. The second pillar of Islamic democracy is that whenever you make decisions; make them on the principle of absolute justice.

Two years after the death of the Holy Prophet in 634 A.D Omer Bin Khatab became the second rightly guided Caliph of Medinah. During his time he implemented a great system of administration. Omar governed the state of Islam on the principle of democracy.

He formed a Consultative Body of advisors and sought its advice and help in all important matters. For the sake of convenience of administration, he divided the empire into provinces and appointed a governor for each province. He introduced a system of old age pension, he established a department of finance for poor and needy. In his time a treaty was negotiated between the Muslims and the people of Jerusalem according to which the inhabitants' life, property and churches were given protection and Islam was not to be forced on them.

Omar was always concerned about the proper discharging of his duties as the religious and political leader of the Muslims. He used to walk the streets of Medinah at night to make sure that the people were sleeping well and not in need of anything. Thus his government was the living example of commonly accepted definition of democracy, i.e.; government, by the people for the people.

But unfortunately today Muslim world has forgotten Islamic concept of democracy and the noble example of Omer and point fingers towards West. Who has given us what Omer gave to his people, a true democracy.

I made three statements and you have not indicated weather you agree or disagree. You have given some ancient details about the system, it true, than its great system.

My reality is very different than you and you are correct in your own right. The day God hands me a book only than my reality will change.

God will listen and will receive your massage if u do what is needed to do.

Let me explain to you things that really go over your head. if u want God to communicate to you than you have to qualify yourself to be worthy of it.

1. By worthy I mean that you must noT say there is not God
2. Start tuning your senses to him more so than all else.
3. Start thinking of him, and start praising him for his mercy to you and all others.
4. spend most of your daily time in worshiping him in the manners that he has prescribed.
5. *Obeying God
*Remembering All mighty God as often as we can.
*Glorifying God and thinking about Him when we are alone.
*Repenting for are sins, and never repeat them again.
*Utilizing every single second of our life to praise God by heart, and expressing our love for our Creator by obeying Him.

Read What God all mighty has said about those who do not believe.

"We have made the devils allies of those who do not believe; those who commit outrages and then say: "We found our predecessors on this (tradition)" Surely they have taken the devils as allies instead of Allah, and they think that they are on guidance" [Soorah Al-A'raf (7): 27-28]

Those who disbelieve in Allah and His Prophets and seek to differentiate between Allah and His prophets, and they say: "We believe in some and we reject some" Such are true disbelievers, and We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment. As for those who believe in Allah and His prophets, and sought not to differentiate between any of them. We shall give them their rewards. And Allah is Ever Oft-Forgiving and Most Merciful." [(4): 150-152]

You must have an infinite amount of faith in Allah Almighty:

You must have an infinite amount of patience:

You must have a good amount of discipline:

Always pray and prostrate to Allah Almighty in humility:

You must always try your honest best in everything you do, and everything you do has to be for a good cause that pleases Allah Almighty:

You must have an infinite amount of trust in Allah Almighty:

To achieve a degree in any discipline you will go to any length be it time, be it money or be it devotion and discipline, why would you not do the same to connect to all mighty.

Just to make it easy for you I will put up names of those that you know who achieved what you said you want to, so simply follow there path.
