Breaking News : Govt Finally Announces Abbottabad Episode Independent Commission

Justice Javed Iqbal to head 5 member commission.

Other members includes Retd. Justice Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim , Ex-IG Abbas Khan, General (r)Nadeem Ahmed and Ashraf Jahngir(ex-diplomat).



Justice Javed Iqbal to head Abbottabad probe commission

Prime Minister Yusaf Raza Gilani has formed the commission to probe Abbottabad incident.


Justice Javed Iqbal would head the commission while Justice Fakhruddin, general Nadeem, Ashraf Jahangir Qazi, and former IG Abbas Khan will be included in the commission.


The US SEALs made incursion into Abbottabad to kill Osama Bin Laden on May 2. Opposition, media and people protested the attack and demanded inquiry into it. A joint session of the Parliament was also called in which a resolution was passed against the incursion.


The resolution demanded formation of the commission within 7 days but it took 18 days to the government to take the decision.

It took them almost a month to constitute a commission................ nothing is being said about the mandate given to them.

I think they should be given a deadline , 2/3 weeks max. otherwise this commission will be useless.

Aur agar leak ho gayi to N league isay election k liye istamal kray gi. Hum awam commission ki bajaye Army generals+Govt. ka kanjarkhana hi khatam kerna chahtey hain. What a shame

This commission seems to have been made by Army themselves

Javed Iqbal, Fakhrudin and General Nadeem - soft corner for Army
Ashraf Jahangir Qazi, IG Abbas Khan - No outstanding services to be included in the commission

Fakhurdin, a very upright person should be replaced with Justice Bhagwas Das
Ashraf Jahangir to be replaced with General Jehangir Karamat

No clear verdict will come out of this commission and we will not be able to punish the culprits and kick out inefficient.

What will they do once everything is covered up now ..can they question establishments and agency ?

That will be decided in the scheduled meeting between heads of two largest political parties Zardari and Nawaz. Lets see what type of mandate do they give to this commission. Will this be a real probing one or it will be just a face saving futile effort.
