This is false news, chief justice has not taken a somoto action on Karachi situation. Some ad was put in the news paper including supreme court name, the CJ office as ordered electronic media to provide, DVD and other material concening that. New is detailed in Jang today.

Yes bro, I agree, Pir Pagara already said today, Marshal Law is coming next. I suggested this to CJ weeks ago in my e-mail, to use his powers under the constitution and request the military to help him implement the SC orders Government is ignoring.

One thing is very clear, every time the PPP Government comes in power, it destroys Pakistan. They are criminals whose main purpose is to loot the country. None of them are honest or loyal to the country. They believe in one thing either they are in the power and looting the country, or it is not democracy and they are ready to use the Sind Card or slogan "Pakistan na khappe".

If Pakistanis have any sense, they should never ever vote this criminal party to the power ever again. PPP is a bad news for Pakistan, they had been instrumental in the breakup of Pakistan in the past. They are on the record that they wanted to break up Pakistan again on the death of BB.

BB was a disgusting thieve as well, why people try to give her the status of "Shaheed" is beyond me. What did she do to earn this title? Both times she was in the power the "Ali Baba" was looting the country, and BB was laughing all the way to the bank, by using that looted money, sending her kids to the best schools, buying properties all around the world.

She got killed after doing NRO so she can come back and loot the country again, why she deserve the title of "Shaheed"?

I have written this many times on PPP blog, but none of her supporters have the courage to debate it with me.

May Allah SWT saves Pakistan from all these criminals.

ISLAMABAD - Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry on Monday took suo moto notice of the unabated killings in Karachi and called for details of the recent incidents in the economic hub of the country.


He directed various TV channels to provide CDs/DVD of the relevant programmes and footages today (August 23). The CJP intervened following the publication of news about the situation in the restive cosmopolitan city.
According to some media reports, over 600 people have been killed in Karachi during the past eight months. The situation has deteriorated to an extent that a number of political parties have demanded a military operation to purge the city of weapons and criminals.

The prime minister chaired a meeting of the Sindh cabinet on Monday and told the participants that if we fail to act, somebody else will. This clearly meant that the government knew the likely consequences in case it could not bring the killings to an end.

In a related development, a senior advocate of the Supreme Court Tariq Asad filed a petition in the apex court with the Prime Minister, federal government through Interior Secretary, Federal Minister for Interior, cabinet ministers and Chief Secretary and Home Secretary of Sindh province as respondents. He prayed the respondents be directed to submit a comprehensive report on the number of people who lost their lives and the culprits responsible for the killings.

He further prayed that the Prime Minister be directed to advise the President to issue a Proclamation of Emergency under Article 232 in Sindh, especially in Karachi, and direct the federal government to call the Armed Forces to control the law and order situation under Article 245 of the Constitution.

The petitioner requested the court to summon Interior Minister Rehman Malik to explain what he meant by the third force which he said in a recent statement was responsible for target killings in Karachi.

The minister was quoted as saying that elements involved in target killing are Pakistani citizens, but they reside in South Africa. They come to Karachi on a flight and leave the city the very next day after killing innocent people.

Advocate Tariq Asad said the statement amply proved the failure of the interior minister to perform his duty. He said in such circumstances he should be directed to tender resignation. The petitioner said there was no coordination between the federal and provincial governments because of which the lives of citizens were not safe.

ISLAMABAD: The Director of Human Rights Cell of Supreme Court on Monday directed Directors News of eight television (TV) channels to submit by Tuesday all the available CDs/DVDs and other relevant material containing information over incidents of target killings in Karachi.


The directive was issued after Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry gave order on a human rights case forwarded by the Cell containing press clippings about an appeal made by Dr Muhammad Tahir ul Qadri, Chairman of Pakistan Awami Tahreek.

The Chief Justice in his short order wrote "CDs/DVDs from different channels be collected."

The Cell after the due process asked the Directors News of news channels including GEO TV to ensure compliance of the order and provide Cds/DVDs of programmes and footages along with transcript of the recent incidents of target killings in Karachi.

These materials would be submitted before the Chief Justice on Aug 24, the directive added.

In the meanwhile, Tariq Asad advocate moved an application over the Karachi unrest.

He said in Karachi target killing incidents continued for the last year but the quarters concerned failed to control the situation.

He said during the last year, according to the data a total of 1981 people were killed in the city, 122 during the month of January, 133 in February, 130 in March, 144 in May, 122 in June, 135 in July, 176 in August, 71 in September, 173 in October, 91 in November and 84 in December.

According to Human Rights Commission of Pakistan report about 177 women and 78 children were included in these figures, he added.

He said the target killings increased in the month of January this year and over 75 people were killed in reprisal attacks.

During the current spate of violence, dozens of political activists fell prey to unknown gunmen while the culprits managed to escape, he added.

Besides, all the parts of Karachi had been distributed among the criminal 'dadas' for collecting 'Bhatta' and the violence often erupted from their inner differences, he said.

He said that the Federation under clauses 2 and 7 of the Article 232 of the Constitution might be directed to advise the President to issue a proclamation of emergency in Karachi due to law and order situation and threats to the lives of citizens in the city.

Under Article 245 of the Constitution, the armed forces might be called by the Federal Government in aid of civil power to control the law and order situation, he prayed.

He further contended that such violence was causing the denial of the right of life and liberty which was also tantamount to practically derogation of the rights guaranteed to Karachi residents under Article 9 and 14 of the Constitution. (APP)

Chief Justice Iftikhar directed the government to submit a record regarding the ongoing unrest in the metropolis.
The notice was taken in response to a newspaper story.
In a related development, a petition was filed in the Sindh High Court to stop the unrest in the port city.
Moreover, at least seven people had been killed in different areas of the city on Monday as Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani visited the provincial capital.
It is pertinent to note that at least 102 people have been killed in the city during the past week.
