you rant just tells him how little knowledge you have of Islam. my suggestuion first go and get some education from authentic source but you can't because you are allergic to the source itself. not sure how you can get the cure if believe the medicine is a conspiracy

unless we give it to education, all other areas are only increasing in problem size

Zakat has some categories of people that you could give. We could not just focus on education

You did an excellent job by asking where your money will be spent. If you are not confident on someone, don't give it to him or that institute.
Look in your family first, then town, then city and then country. That's how you should set your priority og giving Zakat, sadaqa and fitrana.
