ZARDARI confident PPP will secure the second term!!! READ ON.
ISLAMABAD: [HI]After grabbing an expected convincing victory in the AJK, President Asif Ali Zardari has up his sleeve a comprehensive political and media strategy to secure a major win in the next general elections and continue his rule for the next term.
[/HI]
While there is no clue yet of any mid-term polls, despite the MQM’s exit from the government, the Presidency has already shared its media strategy with the concerned quarters.
Shared with The News by a source, the media strategy focuses on the next general elections. It directs the official television channels and others to promote the achievements of the government and deflect anti-government criticism through creative twists.
This media strategy is three phased. The first phase will be from now to the Senate elections, phase II from the post Senate elections to general elections and phase III during the general elections.
[HI]All concerned have been provided with a list of techniques as to how to defend the failures of the government, its bad governance, massive corruption, confrontation with the judiciary, pro-US policies, drone attacks, inflation, unemployment, gas and power shortage, etc.[/HI]
True to its working style, the media strategy expects from its defenders to depend on creative twists like distracting tactics by creating a new issue, [HI]media management at all levels that include private television anchors and owners handling besides exploiting government’s connections in newsrooms of different television channels. This media strategy is already in operation.[/HI]
‘Foot soldiers’ of the government would also be massively used for pro-government campaigns. Special directions are being given to project the government’s positive doings having a direct impact on the people. These ‘achievements’ are controversial reinstatement of sacked employees, improvement in rural economy, benefits to growers, pay and pensions raises, BISP and regularisation of jobs, development work done, funds allocated or work on ground done at district and cities level, especially with focus on southern Punjab, resolve and fight against terror (winning of Swat war), etc., reconciliation, no political arrest, no harassment or framing of political cases, constitutional amendments, legislation for women, women vote registration, sacrifices of PPP leadership and workers for democracy.
Regarding the political game-plan, the sources said it is being personally handled by the president, who despite relatively new in politics, has outsmarted all his opponents, and is openly sharing with his visitors what he terms as the extreme ‘stupidities’ of his adversaries, particularly Nawaz Sharif.
The sources reveal despite tales of serious corruption, bad governance and misrule, President [HI]Zardari is confident of securing majority seats in the next general elections and continue ruling Pakistan at least till 2018[/HI]. The divisions within the opposition and among the anti-PPP voters are considered a political strength of the PPP and the strategy of the party is to keep its opponents divided.
The president, according to sources, tells his visitors that he had never thought before that his main adversary Nawaz Sharif would be so naive politically. President Zardari, according to the sources, is confident that in the next general elections, the PML-N would lose a number of seats in the National Assembly.
Extremely satisfied with the PPP-PML-Q coalition, the president believes that despite his popularity graph going up, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan is no threat to the PPP, but would be useful in denting the PML-N, particularly in the Punjab. According to a recent visitor to the Presidency, [HI]Zardari is full of confidence that the PPP will secure the second term. He is even ready for the mid-term polls.[/HI]
