Jairam Ramesh said spending on basic sanitation should match India's vast defence spending and that the country's best scientific minds should be deployed to make sure every Indian had access to an inside lavatory.

"Nearly 60 per cent of the people in the world who defecate in the open belong to India. Even countries like Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan have better records. We should be ashamed of this."

True, but it is also true that everything happening in India is going in a positive direction. We are a young country, started at the same time, had the same problems, India had more because of its more diverse nature. Today everything in India is going in the positive direction while Pakistan.... (thumbsdown)

Do you seriously want to talk about this??? 85% of women in Pakistani jail are there because they accused someone of rape and could not prove it because court required them to present 4 male eye witness. Go check this fact right now. Most rapes in Pakistan do not even get reported because of injustice in your country.

A referendum was done by Gadaffi the Libyan (muslim) dictator in Kashmir and less than 4% said that they wanted to go to Pakistan. over 40% were in favor of India while the rest wanted a independent Kashmir.
