I just finished speaking to my cousin over the phone and the situation he told me in Khanewal sounded pretty bad. I did hear on the News that there are some riots in the city but media coverage isn't really allowed there right now.
I asked my cousin to write the whole story down, so I can share it with you guys. So here it is.
On June 17th 2012
We have had 18-20 hours of load shedding per day for past several months. Men are wearing 'Choorian', so no one even raised a voice until today when Women of Khanewal got together on June 17th and decided to march towards Wapda office, they did their peaceful demonstration and made some noise. Seeing women getting out, men of Khanewal had some shame and they decided to do a complete strike the next day.

So today men & women both decided to come out. Everything was completely shut down. As far I remember, I have never seen such a massive crowd gathering for any kind of cause in our small city of Khanewal(approximate figures are around 25,000). They decided to march towards MNA's house (Hamid Yar Hiraj - personal assistant of ex PM Gilani in Punjab). When the massive crowd reached MNA's house, Nasir Yar Hiraj(cousin of MNA) panicked & ordered guards to open straight fire on the crowd, the first bullet hit the 12 years old school boy who died right on the spot(Video link). 7 others also shot, 4 of them in critical condition. At that point, Police showed up and started throwing gas shells on people instead of helping them out. MPA's men took that 12 years old kid's body from civil Hospital, Khanewal to some unknown location on gun point, so there is no post mar-tom. At that time former MPA Irfan Khan Daha(PMLN a.k.a friendly opposition) saw the opportunity to get people on his side, joined them and announced 3 day complete shut down. The firing, shelling + this made people to go home that night.
On June 19th 2012
Today, early in the morning people started gathering and eventually numbers got doubled from yesterday. The whole city was in the streets. They gathered around MNA's house but today there were over 500 police officers guarding the house. They started doing gas shelling and firing. At that poing, people's anger went out of control. People stopped caring about bullets or getting killed, they grabbed a few police guys and started beating them, burnt two of the cars, started throwing stones or whatever they could get a hold on.
This wasn't the only place where people were gathered. People also attacked United Bank and caused a lot of damage, burnt another 2 Government cars GPO. In a nut shell, the whole city was a complete mess, It looked like a War Zone.
In the evening people put 12 years old's dead body in the middle of the road and demanded Police to file an FIR against the MPA. Policed filed it under an immense pressure of people.
On the other side, MPA filed a FIR against 2025 people and right now people are getting arrested all over the city.
