DO U THINK INDIA SHOULD ABANDON SECULARISM..........AND ADOPT A THEOCRATIC HINDU IDEOLOGY?

I am sure your answer would be noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.....

India is a country of 1.1 billion people....people with so many different religious beliefs ...India can only be successfull if it can be secular..

I do agree that we as a country are still not where we want to be in protection of the rights of the minorities but we have made long leaps since independence and we are moving in the right direction..........

Indian Muslims can do whatever they want. We should not be concerned. It is an issue between the INDIAN STATE AND ITS CITIZENS.

Nobody in Pakistan is thinking about the rivers being blocked and abused by india in Kashmir; yet my countrymen are worried about indian muslims. :roll:

To an extent Waffen SS is right; we (Pakistanis) should not be too much worried about Muslims of India. They are living in a separate state and it is their internal issue.

@Hindu: You are right in saying that Pakistanis doesnt feel good when India claims to be a secular state.

Reason:
1. Basis of partition was religion of inhabitants which was the result of inequality etc.
2. We are neighbors with various disputes including a major territorial dispute of Kashmir. We both countries are called rivals. And rivals always highlight each others faults, so both are performing natural duty.

Your query about DO U THINK INDIA SHOULD ABANDON SECULARISM..........AND ADOPT A THEOCRATIC HINDU IDEOLOGY? - Firstly, that is purely the choice of Indians.

As you asked us Pakistanis, personally I believe India should think to move towards a Pluralistic State; where all religions should be facilitated by law. Right now Indian State has no religion but in fact huge majority of Indians is very much religious (Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism, Christianity etc)

Or, If Indians opt for secularism. It should not be in books only, it should be seen as implemented but that is not the case. Dont mind, but you yourself and all Indians negate Indian Secularism while saying protection of the rights of the minorities. The basis of treating minority as a minority is religion, so this is not secularism. Every Indian politician uses this word minority community for Muslims or Christians.

In todays global world India portrays herself as secular and enlightened country and tries to present Pakistan as a theocratic and hardliner State. Practically India is not secular, so Pakistani response is natural.

I do have reservations that even written Indian laws are not secular. Wherever the word minority (religion basis) is used in a law, it becomes pluralist or theocratic.

I wrote above lines just to have a healthy debate, so dont take it negative. We do not want to strengthen extreme right wings of both States.

Indians use their 'so called' secularism to justify their argument that there was no need to breakup India into separate states for the benefit of Muslims, where as the reality is obviously very different and ugly - no rights are given to the minorities, e.g. Maoist, Muslims, Sikhs, and the list goes on. They don't even give equal rights to their fellow Hindus i.e. Dallits. So it is sort of our problem when they say that there was no need of creation of Pakistan.... Shakal par raam raam aur baghal main khanjar....

India is at best for the benefit of Hindu elite who are sitting at the top and look down on minorities as nothing more than just an inconvenience!!!
