Imran Khan is making a completely wrong argument here. This is not about ZAATIYAT (petty personal attacks), but Imran Khan is admitting that he is a PUBLIC FIGURE who came with X number of votes.

Sir, if you are (God forbid!!) involved in such a mess then you have NO moral or ethical standing to be a 'leader'. You will have no moral leg to stand on and go on about others being corrupt of what not. In civilized countries Public figures who hold political offices RESIGN if they are caught in such instances. Secondly, if you know in your heart of hearts that you have done this then resign RIGHT NOW! If you won't then the forces of natural law will come into action. You have said all the right things in the above post assuming that this scandal is more a case of 'may' than of 'might' when it comes to IK's connection with it. What prompted me to respond to ur post is that it is not the first time I have seen u nervy or jittery. About a week ago, u expressed similar concerns.

I agree with u that it would be one of the biggest betrayals in Pak history. However, for me it is still a case of 'might' and that too a slight one. So, try to soothe ur nerves........Allah khair kare ga.......

IK may be a person of limited mental faculties and may have problems of articulation (particularly how much, how and when) but he is person of great determination. And after his moral reformation, he has carried himself quite well.........so all these factors should be able to suppress ur demons!

The thing bothering me it that so far nobody has questioned and tried to analyze the motives of the tweeter. Why out of blue with this timing he decided to tweet this? He used to be a little more credible than many. He flaunts the prefix of 'investigative' with his professional title. Why in God' name he would say something which he has not been able to corroborate or follow up with so far....... Further all these so-called journos day in and day out whine and wail about the misuse of social media by others. Now was his own use of social media in this case even remotely ethical?

For people of Pak, this past month has served to take the remaining rags off the bodies of a great majority of these journos on both sides of the divide.

Finally, if this becomes true it wont make any difference if IK resigns in advance or afterwards. In both cases damage and loss would be complete and irreparable!

Even with what little information we have I agree with IK that the accuser, Umar Cheema, definitely belong in the gutter even if that tweet was not about IK. Talk about hitting below the belt and abusing your position as a journalist. What he did was not just unprofessional but also unethical. If he was accusing anyone he should have named the person and provided more details to the public or the authorities. It definitely seemed an attempt to create a controversy, sensationalize and scandalize.

Now IK's response to this who episode is just mind boggling to me. It shows that he is not ready to lead the country because he has not been able to separate IK the leader of millions from IK the person. When I saw him continuing to react to Geo that strongly regarding the ISI issue I could tell that there was more to it than just HM and Geo going after ISI.

If Geo had reached out to IK with the message that we will hit you hard with these kind of smear campaign if you don't back off then his reaction is understandable to some extent but the way he has handled it doesn't bode well for him in the long run given his position as a leader of a major political party. He could have handled it a lot better. Seeing his reaction it seems to me that Geo had played a dirty trick on him and got IK to lose his marbles and he is out of control right now and can only smell blood at this time. The reaction also tells me that the accusation or insinuation is not true because even an emotional and shooting from the hip kind of a guy that IK is it still doesn't make sense for him to throw himself into the middle of this controversy with all guns blazing.

Even with not so ideal way that IK has handled this issue it seems that he has called their bluff and now Geo and Umar Cheema are backing off with an illogical response to this whole issue. The problem is that our media and public don't ask the right questions. Sane people would have circled around Cheema and asked for more details or proofs or sources. The thing is that they are on back foot now. Either they should clearly say that it was not IK or name the person that they are charging with this offense.

Tend to concur with last para with one qualification. GEO is down but not out. With its behemoth structure and reach, it has the capacity to bounce back. GEO needs to be cut to size with stringent conditionalities and guarantees.........however, this whole episode was the most sordid affair of Pakistan's recent life........as every sane person is keep on saying that nobody or institution except perhaps GHQ and ISI would come out of it un-bruised or unwounded.

There were so many opportunities in this crisis for IK and PTI to carry themselves with dignity and aplomb and reap a lot of political capital......now most of them gone waste.

The problem is that right now he has become the pied piper to me - leading the charges to certain doom with misfires at every stage. With certain doom I mean the dreams that sold to the millions of hopefuls. The 'hope' turned into 'nope'.

I know that some would argue that its too early in the game but I tend to disagree. I think the opportunity was lost and we will not get another chance. Look at the way we are descending into chaos that there doesn't seem to be any chance that order can prevail - ever! The people and the institutions have devolved into completely dysfunctional entities.

Btw, my comment in the last para of my last post was only specific to this scandal. Who knows what will come out of this and who will be standing on which side of the issue when all is said and done.

The other day one of IK's die-hard supporter, @rtabasum2, had an interesting take on this issue and IK's recent moves. According to her IK is a lot more savvy than what we give him credit for and all that he is doing now is part of a grand scheme to force all the parties(political and non-political) play into PTI's hand. I am not convinced that its a reformed MNS. That is one guy I don't understand at all. I don't think that there is much room for improvement of any kind or reformation.
