THE WING OF MERCY

Just as the birds spread their wings gracefully
And shield their nestlings most courageously
Our parents care for us all the time
Making sacrifices and expending their time
Working for us and educating us
Putting all of their wants aside

And when old age does reach them
One or both at the same time
We must do as ALLAH commands us in the Quran:

23. And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor reprimand them but address them in terms of honor.

24. And lower unto them the wing of submission and humility out of kindness, and say: "My Lord! Bestow on them Your mercy as they did bring me up when I was young.''

( Surat al-Isra' 17 : 23 to 24)

The dua is so beautiful
And it is taught to us by "ALLAH HIMSELF"
And how wonderful it is to include it in our prayers!

And when we say the Arabic
And insha Allah in its original text understand it
We will feel the Miracle of the Words of ALLAH
As Students of the Quran

It is a supreme and zealous moment
As we beg ALLAH with tears in our eyes
To make our parents status rise
In the Sight of ALLAH, the Rahman

And let us not become a sign of the Last Day
By causing our parents displeasure in any way
Rather abstaining from saying the slightest word of disdain
And thanking ALLAH everyday
ALHAMDULILLAH- SUBHAN ALLAH
For blessing me with such precious people
Whom if I please, for ALLAHs sake
I can gain in Jannah, a place to stay!

Ameen Insha ALLAH

Jazakallah brother for an outstanding post reminding all of us of our duties towards our parents and the humility and patience we must acquire 'n' practice once they become senile both physically and mentally.
