CJ Iftikhar Chaudhry did what no one had ever done in the history of pakistan. He said NO to a dictator. No doubt he had his weaknesses specially in the case of Arsalan but i think he did far more good than wrongs. He challenged the Holy cows of Pakistan like the ISI, he upheld the Supremacy of the law by firing a Prime minister. Overall he did really well. I salute you CJ

Well, he said YES to the same dictator when it came to preserving his post in 1999. Later on, he accepted the post of Chief Justice from the same dicator. And honestly speaking, while one may have many questions regarding his removal by Musharraf, the process Musharraf used was within the confines of the PCO, the same PCO that Iftikhar Chaudhry took oath on. Yes, Iftikhar stood firm against Musharraf, but at that point, it became more of a fight between army and judiciary, and noone ever bothered to consider the reasons for Iftikhar's dismissal. Yes, one of the reasons was that Musharraf wanted the SC to ratify another term for him. But there were other serious, and valid allegations against IC, which were never answered.
He was a biased and partial judge. He swept the Arsalan Iftikhar case under the rug. He spent more time pursuing Zardari's case, where AZ was clearly protected by the constitution, and spent no time pursuing the billions of dollars worth of references against the Sharifs. Yes, he was partial, and a bad judge. Just because he came to the rescue of the small guy on one or two occasions doesnt make him a good judge overall.
