First there was a news that Imran Khan has been sidelined by Pakistan's powerful military after failing to act decisively on the coronavirus crisis or impose a lockdown

And then a retired Lt Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa has been appointed as special assistant to the prime minister (SAPM) for information, a title previously held by Firdous Ashiq Awan.

So my friend once you are retired, you can be part of any civil service government or private. This is a common practice world-wide. It is the PM's discretion of who is going to be his spokesperson and considering the wonderful performance of Gen. Asim Bajwa in his role as ISPR spokesperson, I personally think he's a perfect fit for this role. I know Modi and his co-horts are almost at the verge of a massive heart attack after this news surfaced.

I have to agree he is best fit. I am not denying that...

All I am saying is that it seems and it is being reported Army seems to be gradually taking over the government...

1- For a democracy, it's not a healthy sign but given circumstances and keeping in mind the history of our country, it's not unusual.
2- Almost same criticism was made when FAA was initially appointed, non-elected etc. So a non-elected is replacing another non-elected - perhaps not a big deal.

In case of Pakistan, where the system is rotten to it's core, the argument/dialogue of elected or non-elected is not substantial.
The thing which really matters is to correct the system and experience of two years tells, it's a task larger than Everst as people have their vested interest attached and they will do their best to fail any change ......
So changing the players do not matter, what matters is how big dent you can make to this evil system.
