ISLAMABAD: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) sent objection over the candidature of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab President Shahbaz Sharif to contest the general elections; while, the N-League said the allegations are based on ill-will.
The bureau dispatched to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) the record of 16,526 defaulting candidates including the former Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif. The NAB record states that Shahbaz is a loan defaulter.
The NAB spokesman Ramzan Sajid said he only provided the record of the defaulters; however, it is only the Election Commission to decide about their eligibility.
The PML-N said the allegations against Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif are based on malevolence, adding the details provided by the bureau are quite misleading.
The N-League will lay bare the facts in todays press conference, the party source added.
It should be mentioned here that Shahbaz Sharif filed nomination papers to contest the polls on one National Assembly seat from Mianwali and two provincial assembly seats from Lahore.
The defaulters list moved by the Bureau contains among other the names of Zafar Baig Bhaitni, Muhammad Makhdoom Gilani and Abdur Rehman Khetran.
