SC should not be burdened with everything: CJP
The CJP says the letters on the formation of commission to investigate Shehzad’s killing received.
Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Monday said that everything should not come to the court as the government should have to do its job.
Resuming the hearing of journalist Saleem Shehzad’s murder case, he said that the government letters bearing the names of the judges proposed to be the commission members had been received.
“In our opinion, the government should be allowed to do its job,” the chief justice remarked.
He said that the injustices against journalists should be stopped, adding that another incident of torture of journalist has been reported in Islamabad.
The chief justice said that the both the commissions, on Abbottabad and Shaleem Shehzad, would work under the Supreme Court judges.
Government lawyer Babar Awan told the court that the government wanted a transparent inquiry into the incidents.
