SC asked to stop media criticism of army

ISLAMABAD: A lawyer who briefly served as deputy attorney general during the Musharraf government filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday seeking an order restraining the media from criticising the armed forces, intelligence agencies and other security and defence institutions.
Advocate Sardar Muhammad Ghazi said the media should be restrained from levelling baseless and unverified allegations against these institutions so that their work did not suffer in any manner.
The petition, drafted by Advocate Raja Muhamamd Ibrahim Satti, also requested the court to lay down guidelines to protect institutions from mala fide and baseless allegations and criticism.
The respondents named in the petition are the federal government through the information ministry, Pemra, analyst and anchorperson Najam Sethi, Capital Talk`s host Hamid Mir, Geo TV Network, publisher/editor of Daily Express Tribune, Islamabad, and Ejaz Haider who recently wrote an open letter to ISI chief General Shuja Pasha.

Until unless SC is not taking any decisive action against NRO, Swiss account, sugar prices, Stell mill & PIA & OGDC, NICL, cases ... Any thing else is just a time passing tactic ... SC himself has to prove its creditably before doing anybody else's scrutiny.
