[h=1]Introduction[/h] In the earlier there was only print media but as the world developed media also get improving, due to which in 1920 with the invention of Radio electronic media get started work on. After the passage of some years in 1925 BBC Radio was started which shared different type of news and information among the people. This trend of media developed more fast that in 1935 half of the population of USA used radio as a source to be updated with the world.
[h=1]Work of Media[/h]Roles of media is categorized into two types
[h=2]Warning surveillance[/h]It gives us information of bad and tragic news, terrorism news, earthquakes, future environmental conditions etc.
[h=2]Instrumental surveillance[/h] Through it we get information of good news, general information, discovery, entertainment, dramas etc.
"mirror" of the modern society, infect, it is the media which shapes our lives and we become updated with the worlds developing socialistic trend.
[h=1](2)[/h][h=2]A great source of Information[/h] Society is influenced by media in so many ways. It is the media for the masses that helps them to get information about a lot of things and also to form opinions and make judgments regarding various issues! It is the media which keeps the people updated and informed about what is happening around them and the world. Everyone can draw something from it.
[h=2]Entertainment[/h] When we become free of our daily we watch different funny, dramatic, comedy videos, movies on different channels which become a good entertainment for us.
[h=2]Advertising[/h]On this regards we become able to advertise our marketing products, apartments, shops, religious and political programs on different TV channels, newspapers and magazines which are watch and read by different peoples living in various parts of the country
[h=2]Social Media Networks[/h] Social media network is a branch or network of electronic media. i.e., it is its alternate form. With the help of it we can communicate many peoples on different websites forums and can share our personal info, documentary to our friend. It has played significant role in making world a global village and to reduce the communication gaps amongst the people living in the far.
[h=2]A source of judgment[/h]Everyday many talk shows on various topics are broadcasted on different channels, in which wrong and right deeds (of a person or political, welfare, social party) are discussed through which we become able to make an opinion, analysis and judgment on that respective topic
[h=1]Negative Role of Media[/h][h=2]Spread of Misinformation[/h] As they say... if you want to spread misinformation quickly.. You use media, if someone asks us to answer at least three media workers (anchors, journalist) not working for any agenda/external factor?
[h=1](3)[/h]We will not be able to answer, but we will be able to answer 10 anchors working for some agenda or political party or any other external element.
[h=2]Media a misguided missile[/h] It has been noticed that Pakistani media is a misguided missile. Apparently it seems to endeavoring to bring the positive change in the country. Most of the anchors are from the print media and they use the same old tactics to get the participants engaged in brawls and at the end, the discussion bears no fruit. And we just end up with wasting our time.
It is dearly felt that there should be some bench mark/Kasooti /a standard metric on which the issue under discussion should be evaluated and the right and wrong should be brought into the light for the enlightenment or education of the common people.
[h=2]Height of immaturity[/h] Now a days media over exaggerate every new to make it spicy just only for their ratting ,due to which common people become unable to get summary of the news in their mind.
[h=2]Certain Line of Action[/h] Every channel has a certain line of action which it has to follow. There are some sacred cows (variable) for every channel. For example of wiki leaks, when certain anchors have given more importance to some leaks than the others ( kamran khan spends hours on zardaris corruption but only spares 5, 10 minutes for Mian brothers scandals.) Programs of some political parties or religious sects are Broadcasted on live, or are given more coverage but programs of some political parties or religious sects are given less coverage both on electronic as well as print media
[h=2]Following Example Blood is thicker than water[/h] Saleem Shahabad murder was certainly a tragic incident so obviously it was your right to do dharma on this issue, But His case was given more coverage even more that that of killings in Karachi, KPK, Balochistan, Was Saleem shahzad important because he was a journalist? Should all of us burn our degrees and get admission in mass communication?
[h=1](4)[/h][h=2]Neglecting Common Peoples[/h]Almost on talk shows of different channels and article pages of different newspapers only some pathetic faces are invited and they dont give chance to common people, just only for their ratings even ratings can also be made by giving chance to fresh ones, as these so called Hot-items.
[h=2]Negative Criticism[/h]Positive criticism is totally different to what most of our media practice today. Every one is on the verge of ripping the pants off the other. If they act responsibly they should create awareness among the people, to do right thing at all times
[h=2]Broadcasting of Vulgar Programs[/h]Media has had a bad effect on a generation; our new generations have lack of interest towards education. As television distracts attention our new generation mostly spent more hours in-front of television instead of studying. Mainly because; youth is strongly influenced by media. Teenagers and children wish to follow the people, who get recognized and do what they do to get noticed. Sometimes, they focus on bad part of the media and strive to be a part of it. However, many are not succumbed to a life of crime!
[h=1]Solution to make One-Side (Positive) Media[/h](a)Some sort of "Rules and Standards" should be developed and implemented.
(b)The media should be governed by a Charter and should also have its own internal regulatory system.
(c)Many laws should be made to restrict what can be published, broadcasted or televised. There should be legal ramifications for inaccurate reporting.
(d)Serious breaches of those "Rules and Standards" and "Statutory Regulations" should result in heavy fines or even the loss or suspension of license to broadcast or telecast.
(e)Libel and Defamation laws should make and strictly enforced.
[h=1]oif the media identifies its responsibility and work sincerely and honestly then it can serve as a great force in building the nation.[/h]
