I never said these pictures are not authentic they are. They took Khemkaran this is a fact. Pakistani air force also performed very well this is also a fact.They were not in a position to hold it Mr. Ayoub Khan knew it.Had Mr. Khan not agree to the ceasefire and withdrawal Pakistan would have lost territory to India. Mr Bhutto lied to his people in saying that Pakistan won the war but lost at the negotiation table to his countrymen who were in shock at the outcome of Tashkent Agreement. Mr Noor and other Pakistani solders attested to this.

If you call this a victory you may but the fact is that India never attacked it was Pakistan.

Apart from the valiant and daring accounts of Pakistani soldiers and low ranked officers just what did we achieve from that war in 1965 with India, have any of us ever pondered deeply & seriously in to this matter? It needs to be remembered that the initial objectives of Pakistani Army was to capture and consolidate the resourceful area of Run of Kutch and to infiltrate the trained Jihadi guerrillas in Indian held Kashmir but when, contrary to their usual stupid assumptions, when Indian high command decided to start the offensive on the then Western borders of Pakistan there was no contingency planning whatsoever from the Pakistani military’s high echelons which nearly cost them the major city of Lahore at the hands of Indians.

However irrespective of the debate of Pakistan’s difficulties in this botched defensive campaign Pakistan suffered a long term consequences of this 1965 War which are continue to haunt us till this day;

  • The rapidly progressing economy of Pakistan received a ruthless break and never really recovered after the trail of this unwanted war.
  • By then Pakistan was the donor of economic aid to those countries in Asia which are now considered the economic tigers. This economic viability of Pakistan suffered as well after this devastating war of attrition with the Indians.
  • Inflation and unemployment were relatively unknown terms in the then parts of Pakistan especially in its western wing and later these phenomenons became part & parcel of our daily lives.
  • After this war the Military establishment created the famous hoax laden doctrine of a “Security State” and later adopted this paranoia to such extent that till this day it is costing us nearly 40-55 % of our gross national income and valuable resources at the expense of the progress and necessities of the common populace of this poor country.
  • The stance of Indians on the issue of Kashmir became more stubborn and obstinate after this un called for military confrontation and till now we can’t see even an inch of flexibility from their side to resolve this nagging and perennial conflict in a peaceful and respectful manner.
My differences and hatred for the ruling high caste Hindu establishment apart but I have to reluctantly give them the credit for their prudence and cunning resolve especially when in 1991 they decided to adopt the “Open Market Economy” and discarded their Socialist Economic doctrine and ever since then they have avoided an open conflict with its neighbours. No doubt that India’s role in internal conflicts of many of its neighbours is very well documented but still they know their priorities and have never allowed their hawks to get the better of their rational approach of avoiding any serious conflict especially with Pakistan.

Can we learn something from our past mistakes, follies and blunders and try to get ourselves on track where we were back in early 1960’s? Time has come for us to get over with these hollow expressions of glorifying wars and conflicts with our neighbours and try to resolve our sickening and adverse issues first which surely can cause our own implosion in few years time if we fail to work on those urgent issues of the current day’s Pakistan.

Very well said. Form 1960 until this screw up by Ayoub Pakistan had nice trade surplus with India and like you said " It was a donor country". After this muck up they decided to punish India with trade sanctions and end up chopping off their foot and further complected Kashmir.

I don't think very many people will believe what you wrote or you might just be Indian agent. Most of these guys are brainwashed for years.
