LAHORE: Tehreek-e-Insaf Chief Imran Khan Sunday announced that his party would stage a weekly sit-in at Shahra-e-Dastoor in Islamabad from August 6 to express solidarity with the Supreme Court of Pakistan, Geo News reported.

Addressing a press conference at the inauguration of the youth movement 'Utho Jago' under the auspices of Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan made the above announcement and said: "We will not return from Gujranwala by striking a deal with someone.'

He said the government had so far defied 18 rulings/orders of the Supreme Court and that Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari had, under a covert understanding, made a power sharing deal. They will never formulate a legislation making declaration of assets mandatory, he added.

Imran Khan said Nawaz Sharif should stop all the dramas and have its party members resigned from the assemblies.

"Tehreek-e-Insaf will sweep the next elections; the bookies may go ahead and make a bet on his win," he maintained, adding it would also be decided whether Lahore is the city of Nawaz Sharif or Imran Khan.

He said the youth of Pakistan would lay a foundation of a revolution on August 14.

Country in grip of chaos: Imran

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan condemned the recent spate of killings in Balochistan and Karachi and said that in the absence of basic governance, the country was fast slipping into complete chaos.
The PTI chief said that the recent successive sectarian killings in Quetta were alarming and a direct consequence of the misgovernance that has paralysed law enforcement agencies. He said that it seemed there was no government in Pakistan to protect the life and property of citizens. According to him, citizens from Karachi and Quetta had been left at the mercy of criminals and terror groups backed by political elements. The PTI chief said that the media, judiciary, and ordinary citizens were under attack. According to him, the recent attack on a private television channel was yet another attempt to muzzle free media. He said that the PTI supported free media and any attempt to rein in the media would be resisted with full force by the people. He stated that at a time when the country needed united efforts to remove the present rogue government, political parties masquerading as the opposition were content with making mere speeches and releasing condemnation statements. Imran Khan said that the real opposition to the present chaos in the country was the PTI, which was mobilising people on the streets. He said the ‘dharnas’ in Islamabad during Ramazan would prove beyond a doubt that the people had seen through the two-faced politics of the rulers and the so-called opposition, and had rallied around the PTI flag to save Pakistan from anarchy. staff report
