President calls emergency meeting on standoff with SC

President Zardari has called an emergency meeting of the coalition partners.

The session will start at Aiwan-e-Sadar at 7pm today (Thursday). The standoff with the judiciary in view of the pending cases would be taken up. Members of the Awami National Party, PML-Q and other coalition parties would attend the meeting. Sources said MQM has not been called for the meeting.

The biggest question is whether the SC has the backing of the army at this time. If not, then I'm afraid the judges may resign and we'll be back to square one i.e. where we were before the judges restoration and there will a lot of anger this time on the streets.

Where are the talibans? If one of them do a successful suicide mission,and kill all these MF he will definitely go to jannat.

That is why I believe that Pakistani taliban and Alqaeda are never sincere with muslims. They do not attack these high value culprits that are the real cause of misery to humanity but are always after innocent people.

Attorney general lied to Supreme court that Hussain Asghar is missing and the government trying to locate him.

SKARDU: Inspector General Police Gilgit Baltistan Hussain Asghar is still in the area and performing his duties, Geo News reported. According to the sources Asghar has been ordered by the Chief Minister Syed Mehdi Shah and Chief Secretary of Baltistan not to leave the region till Asad Ashura that concludes on July 30.

Hussain Asghar was removed as the investigation officer in the Hajj scandal case, transferred from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and appointed IG Gilgit Baltistan. The Supreme Court ordered that Asghar be reinstated and the secretary establishment, Sohail Ahmed issued the notification for his reinstatement.

After the notification was issued, Sohail Ahmed was made officer on special duty. Following these developments Hussain Asghar failed to report to Islamabad and the DG FIA informed the Supreme Court that he could not contact Asghar.

President, PM meet coalition partners

President Asif Zardari and the PM chaired a meeting of coalition partners at Aiwan-e-Sadr.

The meeting was attended by Senator Ch. Shujaat Hussain, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Senator Dr. Babar Awan, Senator Afrasiab Khattak, Senator Muhammad Zahid Khan, Senator Kalsoom Perveen, Munir Khan Orakzai, MNA, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, MNA, and Spokesperson to the President Farhatullah Babar. The President briefed the coalition partners on his recent visits to Iran, Afghanistan and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The meeting also discussed issues relating to power and gas shortage and price-hike in the country.

The meeting that lasted for over two and half hours, also took stock of the current political and economic situation obtaining in the country.

Those who attended the meeting expressed views candidly on various critical issues.

Before the joint meeting, Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani called on President Asif Ali Zardari and discussed current political situation in detail.
