Half the time, the country was under politicians and the other half it was under political governments. See the facts yourself. If the progress is measured in growth rate, development and prosperity alone, then the military periods were the most flourishing periods of our history. The democracies have been total disasters !

Again, we DO NOT support democracy or martial Law. You know what we stand for but lies against army must be crushed !

Clearly, Pakistan's non-democratic governments have resulted in more economic uplift for the country than its democratic counterparts:). So although we dont support Martial Law as a way out of this but definitely a benevolent technocratic care taker setup backed by the Pakistan Army would definitely be in the interest of the country :)

If you have seen the graph then please also bother to read the statement after. He clearly refutes the notion of Martial Law but suggests Technocratic Caretakers backed by the Army ....I dont know why people cannot comprehend simple concepts written in uncomplicated statements :)

Yes this is true GDP growth has always been more in Pak Army rule. But again GDP is a number game.

General Ziaul Haq GDP is combination of Pakistan & Afghanistan GDP PAK GDP 4.0 + AFGHAN GDP 3.0 = 7.0
Genl. Pervez Mush GDP is combination of Pakistan & Afghanistan GDP PAK GDP 3.5 + AFGHAN GDP 2.7 = 6.2

Take the war out and American Dollar and you will get the real GDP.

"Idher hum udher tum" was not the mantra of the generals BUT Zulfiqar BHutto a political leader. Marshal Law is always imposed after political governance fails. It was the failure of then democracry which led to a military takeover...

But anyhow, this thread compares the economic progress and it is clearly evident that the masses benefitted from the generals. Now, it is better that we get technocrats in place that can turn the economy around.
