Pakistan ka future InshaAllah acha hoga.............with everything that is going wrong there a number of things that are also getting better, but there are few things that we need to do to get to that bright future........I will talk about this at the end of my message.
For now I want to say something about whose gift is this government. The actual dynamics of how this government really came into existance are not known to any one except the people who made the deals. But I am going to lay down some facts as I know them and leave the rest you:
1) Since the first use of "doctrine of necessity" by the Supreme court of Pakistan in 1954, directly or indirectly army has been in power. They have changed governments as they saw fit.
2) How was the above achieved:
a)Through direct use of power (more than 30 years of martial laws in Pakistan)
b)Through indirect use of power (Changing and making new constitutions e.g. 1958 constitution and Amendment 58 2b in the 1973 constitution, putting puppets in power, putting puppet presidents in power who could always dissolve a parliament, control of resources, non-accountability in the use of those resources, and use of ISI's political cell to buy and sell politicians and create difficult political situations for politicians who do not follow the army line)
3 From the total budget of Pakistan more than 1/3 goes to debt servicing. Out of this debt servicing over 3/4 is defense related debt. From our total budget another 30% or so goes to the army directly. This basically means that almost 50% of our yearly budget actually is just for the army, which they call as defense budgets. May be all of this money is being spent on our defense but have you ever seen teh generals' lane in Rawalpindi and counted mercedes cars in each house. I wonder how a general with the pay scale of a 21-22 grade civil servant can even afford one.
4 In the early years of Pakistan, Pakistani good army officers used to go to England for further training. Since the late 50s all the way upto now they go to th US.
5 Get a look at the where all the aid and loan has come from: directly from USA, IMF, and World Bank. Then ask the question who controls the IMF and WB.......the west, especially the US.
6 So a lot of money comes directly from the US and the other does not get to us if the US as the most important member of IMF and WB does not agree.
7 Most of the aid or loan money goes to strenghten the Pakistani army as we have already seen above. So ask yourself who is paying all these millions of dollars in AID and loans, who is giving training and technology to the army, not to mention the ready to fire weapons. So if most of it coming form the US then is it difficult to understand that the US is also calling the tune it wants to hear?
8 Who put Musharraf into power? He was on the plane when 111 Brigade took over PM house, TV & radio stations, Supreme court, Parliament. Do you think that it was possible without the agreement of the Core Commanders who actually command the troops, in other words was it possible without the support of the army?
9 Then Musharraf for many years tow the US line, putting Pakstan's security in jeopardy. Then he leaves unscathed taking millions of dollars from us and putting us in a grave situation.......why? Because the present government who is again supported by the US did nt want to set a precedent that out-going US collaborators should be touched......not a good way to motivate and encourage future collaborators.
10 The point of all of the above is that anybody at the top is serving the US and the army top brass is part and parcel of the whole corrupt, degenrate system.
Going back to my earlier point that Pakistan's future InsaAllah is bright and we need to do a few things for that future. The most important is awareness (in the past few years it as increased tremendously, which is a good sign); eduacate ourselves; and most importantly stand up for our rights. There is no parallel to what Pakistani did in case of the restoration of the judiciary. The governemnt did not want it and their bosses in the US did not want it. But we did it by mobilizing public opinion and ourselves, asserting our rights, and standing upto all powers.
That is how we get what we want........eternal vigilance is the price of freedom
