Pakistan has forged contacts through back door channels with all Afghan groups to ensure its security after US forces are withdrawn from Afghanistan.According to diplomatic sources Iran, Pakistan and Afghanistan have started work on their strategy to ensure lasting peace and stability in Afghanistan.National security related institutions of Pakistan and certain political figures close to Afghan leaders have made contacts with all Afghan groups particularly ethnic groups and are persistently holding secret meetings with the leadership of these groups. Two noted Afghan figures Younis Qanooni and Abdul Karim Khalili were playing vital role in these contacts. These two Afghan leaders have met the top leadership of PakistanDuring the visits of President and Prime Minister to Afghanistan, consensus was developed on the point that a broad based conciliatory government is put in place in Afghanistan following the withdrawal of US and its allies troops from there which has representation of all Afghan groups including Afghan Taliban.Sources told Younis Qanooni and Abdul Karim Khalili are engaged silently in making the environment conducive for fostering reconciliation with Afghan Taliban. When the matters are settled then some religious leaders from Pakistan will be made part of this process.According to defence and diplomatic sources these contacts could not be made public so far as a lot has yet to done.
