MINGORA: The number of dengue patients rose to 800 in Swat district on Sunday, hospital sources said.
The sources said that more than 400 patients had been admitted to the Saidu Sharif Hospital while rest ones were forced to getting treatment at homes due to lack of space at the hospital. The sources said that each patient was being charged about Rs1000 for a single test in private laboratories.
The sources said that during the visit by the secretary health the hospital staff accommodated dengue patients in common wards to show the secretary that they were being treated properly. “There are no proper arrangements and measures to handle the dengue affected patients in the hospital,” an attendant said.
It was the height of dirty politics when PTI started hitting on PMLN about Dengue virus in Lahore. They turned it into a point scoring contest and literally became ambulance chasers (a term used to describe vulture like behavior of media in west). What is worse is that Sri Lankan medical team was invited to Lahore and the team leader was all praises for Punjab Govt and how they have tackled the emergency (mind it Dengue is a seasonal thing in Sri Lanka) clearly showing that PTI was turning an epidemic into a political issue.
Today Swat has been invaded by the same and not a peep out of PTI. I hope administration in Swat is able to overcome this and Punjab govt gives full support as it has had some previous experience.
