Shahbaz invites MQM, others to form grand alliance

LONDON: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif Sunday said all political parties including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) were invited to be a part of a grand opposition alliance, Geo News reported.

In his interaction with media men at Heathrow airport in London, Shahbaz Sharif said that N-League was ready to engage in dialogue with other parties without any condition.

“Pakistan is going through its worst phase and there is need for all the parties including MQM to put their heads together,” he argued.

He said all the parties including MQM were invited to form a grand opposition and that there was no condition for the parties to come to the negotiation table. It is time to protect the existence of Pakistan which requires practical steps, he added.

Shahbaz Sharif said the purpose of his London tour was to enhance the trade cooperation.

On the occasion, Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah welcomed MQM's joining the opposition.

He said the importance of joint opposition cannot be denied.

Rana said there had been massive rigging in the elections of Azad Kashmir and demanded reelection for the region.

Qureshi, Mazari meet Nawaz, discuss grand alliance

Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Balakh Sher Mazari called on PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif in Raiwand.

In their meeting, political situation in the country was discussed with respect to the probability of a grand alliance. Former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the country is facing innumerable challenges at the moment. He said the government should indulge in instrospection as its allies have started to quit coalition. He said even a diehard PPP worker is unhappy with the leadership.

Qureshi has developed differences with his party (the PPP) over its alliance with the PML-Q.

PML-N, MQM to work as joint opposition

ISLAMABAD: Leaders from the MQM and PML-N met here on Wednesday and decided that both parties would work together as a joint opposition in the National and Provincial assemblies on key national issues, Geo News reported.

Raza Haroon, Haider Abbs Rizvi and Waseem Akhtar represented the MQM in the meeting while the PML-N was represented by Ishaq Dar, Saad Rafique Mushaidullah and Pervez Rashid.

Speaking to the media after the conclusion of the meeting, MQM MNA Haider Abbas Rizvi said that the two parties would work together on key national issues such as inflation, loadshedding, law and order, corruption, the political scenario in the country, ‘rigging’ during the AJK elections, ‘excessive use of authority’ by the government and boosting the business activity in the country.
