Altaf is a pretty smart cookie.
he must have been informed by his 'Secret Service' that a declaration of Martial Law, or fauj kashi in Karachi is imminent.
he is ' reserving a seat' with the generals in case it does happen. He wants to have a clean chit and power sharing with army.
What he doesnt realize, his subordinates in Karachi can also be hanged, may be they are the ones he is attempting to protect.

YUP NO trials needed. trials are a tool to get criminals off the hook using false defense such 'insanity', 'plea bargain' etc. So I would just shoot them
Being a head of state, one should have at least some power to hang people that he thinks the person is involved in murders.
This trial craps is for the kind of govt that believes their masses are not able to do justice. Witnesses are necessary in Islamic trials too but in case where 'away ka awa hi nirala ho' there just arrest and hang. f*** with the democracy

US diplomat Bryan D. Hunt meets Altaf Hussain 
KARACHI, Aug 21 (APP): US diplomat, Bryan D. Hunt met with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), Chief Altaf Hussain at the International Secretariat, of MQM’s office in London.The meeting lasted for nearly three hours and different issues of mutual interest came under discussion, said a statement issued by MQM here on Saturday.The flood devastations, relationship between Pakistan and US, war against terrorism, the role of Pakistan Army in flood relief to the affected people and the overall political situation of the country, came under discussion.
During the meeting, Altaf Hussain briefed the diplomat about the plight of millions of Pakistanis were living shelter less.
They were compelled to drink contaminated water resulting, waterborne diseases as this situation is becoming from bad to worse, he added.
Altaf Hussain informed Bryan D. Hunt that Pakistan is playing a vital role in war against terrorism and Pakistan’s army should not be ignored as they are now fighting for Pakistan’s survival.
He also said that the Army is playing a valuable role in relocating people, affected by heavy floods and in their rehabilitation.
He further said that it was the need of the hour that the international community particularly United States to help the people so that flood stricken people could be saved from starvation.
Altaf Hussain said that there is need to adopt a realistic and practical approach to the regional issues.
Altaf Hussain said that the MQM was the only secular, liberal and democratic political party of the country that seeks to represent middle class people of the country.
He said that the MQM was in favor of inter-faith harmony and believed in a liberal and democratic society where each religious entity would have equal rights.
The US diplomat said the US would not leave Pakistan in this hour of crisis and provide help to the flood victims.
He lauded the efforts of MQM after the devastating earthquake in 2005 and hoped that MQM would play a leading role in rehabilitation of the people, affected by the floods.
The members of the MQM Rabita Committee in London were also present during the meeting.

ڈاکٹر فاروق ستار نے اپنے ایک بیان میں کہا ہے کہ ملک سے جاگیر دارانہ نظام ختم نہ کیا گیا تو ملک باقی نہیں رہے گا۔ انہو ں نے کہا کہ الطاف حسین نے مارشل کی لاءکی حمایت نہیں کی، الطا ف حسین نے آج متحدہ کا پالیسی بیان دیا ہے اور ان کا بیان جرات مندی کا مظہر ہے۔ ان کا کہنا تھا کہ سیلاب کی تباہ کاریوں کو کم کیا جا سکتا ہے۔
I am not a supporter of MQM and the way AH is staying in UK, but if we compare what we are getting from these corrupt politicians, then maybe he is right. But a General who can get hold of their assets in foreign.... not like Mush who did NRO at the end just to stay in the power.
