The head of the Quebec branch of a Pakistani political party is facing deportation after the Federal Court of Canada ruled he belonged to an organization that committed terrorism.
The judge upheld the deportation of Mohammed Kashif Omer, a resident of Montreal, on the grounds he is a member of the Mothaidda Quami Movement, or MQM.
It is the second time this year Canadian courts have ruled the MQM party meets the legal definition of a terrorist organization.
Mr. Omer is one of dozens of Pakistanis whom Canadian immigration authorities are trying to deport because of their involvement in the MQM.
Despite being blamed for the kidnapping, torture and murder of its political rivals in Pakistan, the MQM has opened a Canadian branch called MQM-Canada.
Members of the group have worked on Conservative election campaigns, met Prime Minister Stephen Harper and recently hosted a conference in Calgary.
Conservative MP Art Hanger spoke at the June 8-10 MQM Canada convention, which was attended by several Pakistanis who are being deported for their alleged involvement in terrorism. Mr. Hanger said he did not support the group. Conservative MLA Shiraz Shariff also attended. He said yesterday he was unaware Canadian courts had deemed the MQM a terrorist organization. "Why are we as a nation then allowing them to have a congregation here?" he said.
Among the speakers at the convention was Mr. Omer, who presented a report on the "achievements and future strategy" of the Montreal office of MQM, according to the group's Web Site.
Mr. Omer has no immigration status in Canada. A Canada Border Services Agency spokesman, Erik Paradis, said the court ruling means that the deportation order against Mr. Omer is now in effect.
The MQM is a Pakistani political party that is part of President Pervez Musharraf's ruling coalition. The Canadian MQM branch has never been accused of illegal activities but in Pakistan the party has been blamed for widespread violence, most recently in May when gunfights between the MQM and anti-government demonstrators left more than 40 dead.
MQM officials deny any role in attacks and say they are victims of misinformation spread by Pakistani authorities. Canada's Security Intelligence Review Committee has been looking into complaints from MQM members that immigration authorities have unfairly branded them as terrorists.
Mr. Omer came to Canada in 1998 and was granted refugee status but in 2005 immigration officials said he could not remain in Canada "because he knowingly and for a long period of time belonged to an organization that has engaged in terrorism."
In Pakistan, Mr. Omer had been a member of the MQM and its student wing from 1987 to 1998. He denied any involvement with the MQM in Canada but eventually acknowledged he was in charge of the MQM's Quebec office.
The Immigration and Refugee Board said "Mr. Omer's reasons for trying to hide that, in Canada, he is responsible for the Montreal section of the MQM-Canada lead me to believe that he knew that his party was committing many violent acts."
He appealed the decision to the Federal Court, arguing that the MQM is not a terrorist organization and that the violence was committed by rogue elements in the party, but the court was not convinced.

KARACHI: The CIA police arrested a man allegedly involved in more than 3,869 killings and affiliated with MQM. This was disclosed at a press conference addressed by SSP CIA Manzoor Mughal at CIA Center Saddar on Thursday.

The SSP said a CIA raiding team under Inspector Javed Anjum, acting on a tip, arrested Shakeel alias Chikna from Islamabad when he was trying to flee the country on a forged passport. At the time of arrest he was so chikna that FIA official had to soak their hands in boric powder to hold him. FIA also recovered 127 passports of different countries in his pocket.

It was also revealed that his plan-B was to hijack a 2-seater PAF F-16 fighter plane, later to be flown to London. He also confessed that he had already arranged for three in-flight refueling events for his flight.

Mughal said during initial interrogation the accused disclosed that he was involved in murdering some 3,869 people. He said Shakeel joined MQM in 1939 and killed people on instructions of the party. He also kidnapped more than 17,000 people, took them to torture cells and shot them dead with his dagger. He would also keep a blood sample of his victims in Roh-e-Afza bottles. Those bottles have already been sent to Hamdard Labs for analysis.

The accused confessed that he was involved in 1,254 police encounters and also managed to provide fake sureties to the courts for the release of his comrades including Ashfaq Geela and Haji aka Passport. Shakeel collected 2,000,000,000,000,000,000 Euro through extortion and gave the cash to the party leaders. He also looted 3,472 Bank of America branches in Mardan and handed over the cash to the iftar party.

He also set ablaze some 74,308 shops including one pan shop, three 'thaila' of sweet potatoe, one tri-cycle of his neighbour's 4-year old son. He was also involved in setting the house of editor Takbeer Salahuddin on fire during which one of his comrades was burnt alive because he had sprinkled petrol over his comrades body by mistake. During various strikes called by the party, he torched some 87,829 vehicles mostly 1999 model which also included a BMW from Senetor Saif's showroom. He also set on fire a Shalimar express train at Orangi Railway Station.

He told SSP that he used to collect the shells of unexploded fire crackers the day after every Shab-e-Baraat to use their masala to make a bigger bomb. He claimed that he filed a patent for his bomb, long before Kahuta Labs did. When asked what kind of bomb was that, he replied "Un-clear". He said that the bomb is stored in the bathroom of Editor-in-Chief of the Jang Group, Mir Shakilur Rehman. About 36 'dibri' fuses were also recoverd from him.

He alleged that the MQM chief was trying to divide the country into 50 states and iftar party leaders Abdul Sattar Edhi, Wasim Bari, Zulqernain Haider, Khalid Anam, Athar Shah Khan, Rangela, Ismail Tara and others were working for the purpose.

The SSP alleged that the party had established one torture cell on the top floor of Habib Bank Plaza in Nazimabad which were run by Naeem Fire Brigade Wala, Usman Ambulance, Tariq Mobile, Mooda Tain Patas, Rashid Sabziwala, Maqbool Chaddi, Nawaz Diaper, Khawar aka Pakhtoon, Ilyas Kaamchori, Naeem aka Poosti, Javed Montreal, Naveed Punjabi. SSP also disclosed that one person's aka could not be established.

Meanwhile, the CIA police found his car in Karachi and recovered 24 Kalashnikovs, 89 pistols, thirteen revolvers, one bazooka, 5 flame throwers, one 'Silk-Worm' chinese made anti-ship missile, one poster of Madhuri Dixit from the trunk of his car. He was declared an Indian agent at the spot and his case was sent to Military Court for a swift trial.

We have been discussing these allegations against MQM under various threads. Not once have jury, pakpaatriot and others admitted any wrong doing by MQM. Now we have Nadia in theri group.

Almost 9000 NRO beneficiaries and almost 90% are crimminal cases from Sindh and from this 90% majority of the cases are against MQM. Instead of going back and forth and wasting time let us wait what the honorable CJ of Pakistan decides.

The real fact behind the worst situation in Karachi is that MQM is trying to divert the investigation of Karachi incident.

The report has established MQM involvement in that incident. Now MQM is trying to create a situation where they are forcing the zardari Government to destroy this investigation and to get free the peoples arrested in this connection.
MQM killed poor Balauch / Pashtoon to create an ethnical clash in Karachi, so the real issue can of MQM terrorist / looting in Karachi incident will buried like other investigations.

In this connection MQM is using Shia leaders to demand the release of persons arrested in this connection.

However, the zardari government is bowing to MQM and they are not taking action. It is evident from the remarks of Rehman Malik, when he got the investigation report in which it is established that MQM was behind the Karachi incident.

Rehman Malik said that he asked the investigators to investigate more, which clearly indicates the government intention to protect MQM to save the government.

It is interesting to note that USA ambassador to Pakistan visited 90 and assured MQM their support to clear them from the incident and after that visit MQM has initiated terrorist activities against poor peoples of Karachi.

But now time has come to expose these MQM terrorists activities and their masters, who are the enemies of Pakistan and the nation.

I have read the argument from you and from Paki Loyal.
Can you please explain that why is the perception of all other communities against MQM not Mohajirs.

Twenty years has passed and during this time MQM has been ruling and no inquiry has cleared MQM.
Why MQM to take advantage of NRO for clearing all murders, including against Altaf Hussain.

Dal Main Kuch To Kalla Hai and Dal Bananay Waley Yeh Zaroor Jantay Hon Gay, So I guess you can explain better that why Sindhis, Punjabis, Pathans, Baluchis and even some Mohajirs are against MQM.

An honest answer, no politics, may be it will help me to understand MQM better.

This recent meetings of Governor with MQM and PPP, expose MQM tacties to Blackmail the others and to hide their crimes. It is the way that present Zardari gocerment, which is losing its grounds due to their corruption will bow before MQM to divert the investigations of karachi incident and that will be buried under their political benefits.
Zardari goverment has no courage to expose these culprits as they are also partner with MQM in corruption.

Karachi contribute 60-70% to country's revenue and hardly gets 2-3% in return. That's the reason Punjab don't want NFC award on the basis of revenue generation.

This urban-rural quota system is unique to Sind and does not apply to other provinces of Pakistan. You may consider this as a privilege of being a Mohajir from Urban Sind.
