MQM popularity graph rises

ISLAMABAD: The announcement that was made by Muttahidda Qaumi Movement (MQM) supremo Altaf Hussain on Monday afternoon just before the commencement of the 17th session of the National Assembly knocked down the castle of the notorious so-called National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) wherein several disreputable notable criminals had taken the refuge. The announcement also turned the political table on the government.

The whole scene got changed, which was witnessed on the both sides of the divide at the start of the NA session as the biggest opposition party PML-N was fuming and all the groups of the opposition had one voice to bury the NRO like a heap of filth. The occasion has brought Altaf Hussain and his MQM in the national limelight truly and gave pleasant surprise to the whole nation.

The last nail in the coffin of the NRO came during an interview of Altaf Hussain, conducted by Dr Shahid Masood of Geo News, in which he announced opposition to NRO and in the same programme Dr Shahid Masood broke the story that Altaf Hussain has conveyed message to Asif Zardari to step down as president. The story was spread all around like a wildfire. It was never denied by Altaf Hussain.

Incidentally Altaf Hussain was the first political leader who proposed Asif Zardaris name for the exalted office last year. In his interview Altaf Hussain repeatedly asked Asif Zardari to offer supreme sacrifice for the sake of the country and democracy.

The parliamentary sources told The News that the PML-N was not in forefront against the NRO before the return of Nawaz Sharif from abroad, but it stepped up its opposition to the infamous ordinance when its leader came back. Nawaz used harsh words about the NRO after his parliamentary partys meeting on Monday noon at the Punjab House.

The PML-N staged walkout form the National Assembly later in the day. The MQM parliamentarians did not take part in the walkout, but its leaders refused to back the government at that moment.

The interview of Altaf Hussain was in the mind of every parliamentarian present in the house and galleries were humming with speculations. Leader of the Muslim League Functional Pir Pagaro also came out with stern opposition to the NRO. Chaudhry Pervaiz Ilahi, parliamentary leader of the PML-Q, also announced opposition to the NRO before leaving home for the National Assembly session. Former president Farooq Ahmad Khan Leghari despite his frail health came all the way to his house to express solidarity with the opposition against the villainous ordinance.

The observers have noticed with admiration that the Geo TV and its groups publications have been warning the government about the NRO that it would cause embarrassment for it and it would not be possible for the government to get it through both the houses of the Parliament.

Altaf Hussains action has enhanced his stature and his party as a national distinctiveness. He stole the show and it had become difficult for his worst opponent to staying without praising his action. Jammat-e-Islami leadership also commended the decision of the MQM and Altaf Hussain.

The MQM has already been established in Azad Kashmir and it is part of the state legislature there. It is also contesting Gilgit-Baltistan upcoming elections and it has established its footprints in Punjab, besides having set-ups in NWFP and Balochistan.

The benefactors of the NRO belonging to the ruling party were propagating about the MQM workers that they were also beneficiaries of the NRO, but the pronouncement of the MQM leader cleared the air about them. The Monday announcement of Altaf Hussain would be remembered long that has changed the complexion of the MQM. Its leader has transformed the party into a robust national entity just with one remarkable stroke, the observers opined.

Re: Altaf gives nation a pleasant surprise on NRO

I MUST SAY, ALTAF HUSSAIN DID A HISTORICAL DECISION. GOOD JOB ALTAF. KEEP IT UP.

It has been a couple of days now, and the media has hyped up the NRO-Zardari/Altaf political issue so much that the terrorist blast in Rawalpindi has totally been sidelined if not forgotten which claimed innocent lives. But there seems to be a new issue raised as of today where in The Nation it has been said that there are journalists moving into FATA working for the Blackwater. Do the media have nothing else better to print and printing things on hunches which would eventually make life difficult for the real and honest journalists? Who is responsible?

If MQM, party of Karachi wala traitor bhais (Jinnahpur party) popularity is rising; it proves that the ruling PPP is going down the drains in popularity with the masses. PPP and Asif Ali Zardari have damaged Pakistan beyond repairs and should be sacked by the Pakistani people.

In the current circumstances, friends, MQM is the only solution for the survival of Pakistan. Army, PPP and Noon has ruled Pakistan in various forms. Religious parties also supported dictators and played their games and their illegitimate children called Pakistan Taliban (ZALIMAN) are now ready the dis-member the country. The Waderas, Chowdhries, Zamindars, Industrialist with all their wealth overseas, their children overseas, their stakes overseas are taking directions from overseas. The only party that can bring poors and middle class in the parliament is MQM. The only party that can remove the hereditary factor that is destroying the politics of Pakistan is MQM. This party has a discipline, organization, element of sacrifice and vision. Others also may claim such traits like Jamat e Islami but due to their narrow vision and hypocrisy have lost the trust of masses. Jamat e Islami is the party which not only has soft corner for these Zalimans but supporting them. Noon league got two opportunities and tried to destroy all the institutions of the country like Supreme court (I think, no one has forgotten their attack on the supreme court), Army, corruption of the scale that no one can imagine such has cooperative scandal (hope people remember that), transfer of wealth outside Pakistan (remember what Senator Saifur Rahmans brother Mujeebur Rahman was doing on the declaration of freezing of foreign currency account), committing many other crimes. This is PPPs third term and see what is happening in the country. We want, young, neutral, visionary and poor and middle class representation in the parliament who can bring soft revolution in the country, restore the confidence of young and old and remove the fear of sectarian violence in the country. Unfortunately elements of Chowdries, Zaminadars and provisional arrogants who earlier created rifts between two parts of Pakistan and dismembered Pakistan (this jamat e Islamic was supporting army and also created Al Badr Al Shams to commit criminal acts in former East Pakistan) and also carried out military operations on the innocent people of Karachi (this jamat e Islamic was clapping their hands then) and killed 15,000 people will not allow MQM to come to power but these arrogants have limited life now. Pakistan needs a change other wise the other options are very dangerous. We need progress, prosperity and vision. We dont need hereditary rule in our country. The politicians who are bringing in their children to rule are not sincere. They are preparing a game plan to run the country as their businesses and farms. We want change. We want growth for our country. Long Live Pakistan. Long Live MQM.

Punjabis consider only themselves to be patriotic and the rest are termed traitors. This arrogance lead to 1971.

They always feel that have the right to set the BENCHMARK for PATRIOTISM.

We muhajirs need no definition of patriotism from punjab. You want to call us traitors; fine, keep on ranting. It makes no difference.

By the way, Why only PUNJABIS are victims of TARGET KILLINGS in BALOCHISTAN ? Any anwers other than the typical RAW/CIA bullshit.

Now suddenly MQM does a publicity stunt and the media begins to change them in a hero overnight. I think the media has gone crazy. It has no idea what its actions are doing to the nation. I read an article this morning on the main page The Nation stating that ex army men are working for blackwater!! Now does that make any sense and especially when you read further it states that they are being informed from a website of Pakistan Daily (some improper website that has free ads posted on it) maybe if the media could start acting a little more responsible these days would help. Isnt it better if we stop talking about MQM and other issues for a second and think about what is media doing to the repute of our Army who we look upon and salute?
