Actually there is no solid replacement of MQM in Karachi but I think we Karachiites also support Musharraf quite well.

ISLAMABAD: Governor Sindh, Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad met with Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and discussed the MQM's return to the government and the situation in Sindh, Geo News reported.

Following his meeting with the Prime Minister, Ebad is expected to meet President Asif Ali Zardari on Wednesday night. It is expected that the President will set a timeframe for when MQM ministers will return to the cabinet with MQM chief Altaf Hussain. Sources add that the MQM will rejoin the federal and provincial cabinet by this week.

[h=1]PM Gilani, Altaf agree on formula for MQM's return[/h] 19 August, 2011

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani has contacted Muttahida Qaumi Movement Quaid Altaf Hussain by telephone and exchanged views with him on the prevailing situation in Karachi and the PPP-MQM relationship.
Sources said both the leaders expressed satisfaction over the formula evolved on rejoining the federal and provincial cabinet by the MQM ministers. Sources said Altaf Hussain, during the talks, expressed grave concern over the Karachi situation, saying the government should play its role against terrorists and ensure protection of people's lives. Passengers in buses of private companies are being kidnapped and killed after ascertaining their identification, he added.

MQM would play its due role for establishment of peace in Sindh particularly in Karachi, he held. The PM also assured Altaf Hussain of Centre's full cooperation in safeguarding the lives of innocent people. The officials concerned have been issued directives in this regard, he added. Certain elements don't want PPP and MQM go side by side, he said adding "but I want to make it clear all the conspiracies aimed at blocking PPP-MQM efforts of going along will be thwarted."

Our correspondent adds from Karachi: Altaf Hussain informed the prime minister that terrorists of the Lyari gang war, initiated by late Abdul Rehman Baloch alias Rehman Dakait, were kidnapping people from public vehicles as well as those of private companies and killing them after ascertaining their identities in the city.

He added that so far dozens of people had fallen victim to this ongoing slaughter, mainly in the old city areas, by the terrorists. Prime Minister Gilani strongly condemned the killing of innocent people in the metropolis.
He said that he was grieved at the situation in Karachi. APP adds: KARACHI: The federal government is fully committed to extend support to the government of Sindh to restore peace in Karachi, Interior Minister Rehman Malik said here on Thursday. He expressed these views while discussing law and order situation of the metropolis here with Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah. He held a meeting with Sindh chief minister immediately on arrival from Islamabad to discuss law and order situation in Karachi.

According to a spokesman of the CM House, Malik discussed in detail the law and order situation in the metropolis and also deliberated on measures to take stringent steps against miscreants. "The government is determined to take very strong measures against those who are responsible to destabilise the country and those involved in lawlessness in Karachi," he said.
