Memo allegations cast doubts on ISI chief: Haqqani
ISLAMABAD - Former ambassador to US Hussain Haqqani said through affidavit submitted in the Supreme Court on Thursday that allegations on ISI DG by Mansoor Ijaz cast doubts on his overall credibility.
The affidavit was submitted after four-hour long discussion as per directives of the Supreme Court with his counsel Asma Jahangir.
It is worthwhile to discover the investigation on allegations raised regarding so-called toppling of democratic government by the ISI DG including investigations of other damaging articles written by Mansoor Ijaz, Haqqani writes in the affidavit.
Hussain Haqqani stated in rejoinder that the contents of the said affidavit of ISI DG that a senior Pakistani official had been attempting to pass on a message to senior US leaders indicating imminence of a military takeover in Pakistan were not known to him.
While stating about said meeting between ISI DG and Mansoor Ijaz, which was held in London on October 22 the rejoinder maintained the conditions on meeting that Mansoor Ijaz was ready to share the information but only with the DG and also not in US or Pakistan and the meeting shall be without any aides on both sides were highly mysterious.
The affidavit further stated that record of the said meeting and contacts will be crucial for any further investigation and to determine the motivation of this highly publicised controversy.
Hussain Haqqani cleared through rejoinder I neither write such controversial memo nor authorised anyone to do so.
The affidavit demanded that the investigations or inquiries must be carried out strictly in accordance with the law and due process.
