He is one of my favourite personalities. People like him were the top notables of Medina. His counterpart and old friend abdullah bin ubay went on the path of munafiqt and treachery when seeing his throne overturned but Saad gave up all with a smile. Medina people knew they would always be second fiddle to Qureish but they gave it aal and Saad (ra) was a prime example of this. Some did complain sometimes as during the Taif battle when a lot of bounty came and The Prophet (saw) gace a lot to the new converts of Makkah like Abu sufyan medina people complained that they were the ones fighting and The Prophets (saw) relatives were getting all the cattle and the bounties of war. To this The Prophet (saw) said Are u not happy that they are taking money and cattle and you The Prophet (saw) of Allah who will live and die by your side. At this they started crying.

And after the death of the Prophet (saw) people of Medina demanded that The Caliph should be from them to which Hazrat ABu bakr said that the 'Arabs woudl not surrender to anyone except the Qureish' And this dominance of Quresh continued for 600 years.
