PPP: A Victim of Its Own Incompetence and Crimes

Pakistan Peoples Party is full of paradoxes and no matter how much I disgust its present incompetent and corrupt leadership I do have some sympathies for them. In Pakistan there’s a long history of undermining and persecution of left wing political parties, writers and intellectuals dating back to the era of extreme level of “Cold War” in 1960’s when the stalwarts like Faiz Ahmad Faiz, Ahmad Nadeem Qasmi, Ahmad Faraz and many other intellectuals & writers of the “Progressive Movement of Literati” in the subcontinent were publicaly vilified and put behind the bars on number of occasions just because of their political & ideological leanings towards the socialist / Marxist school of thought. It would be interesting to note that the extreme waves of “Communism / Socialism” of the last century sent a huge shock signals to the antagonists of this vibrant (But inherently flawed) ideology to that extent that the Pakistani establishment, on the exact footprints of their colonial masters, took several actions in order to undermine that threat of Socialism so that it can’t spread its tentacles among the hearts and minds of the common people of this country who were already disgusted with the injustices and disparities spanning in different disciplines of the society.

The cultivation of extreme so called Jihadi mindset & indoctrination in the religious seminaries, introduction of right wing violent student organizations such as IJT (Islami Jamiat Talaba to counter the challenges of PPP’s own student wing PSF) across the public sector Universities and colleges, the formation and amalgamation of various right wing politicians and parties were actualized (Like the offshoots of Muslim Leagues, IJI etc) along with the creation of MQM in order to neutralize or diffuse the effect of PPP and like-minded left wing parties in their stronghold constituencies. Least to mention the unfortunate, unethical and illegal barbaric executions of ZA Bhutto and almost all of his household which dared to indulge in the mainstream politics of Pakistan.

In nutshell PPP has a long history of being victimized brutally at the hands of the powerful establishment of this country but no doubt the crimes of this left wing party are also as numerous as the trails of its persecution. The role of Z.A Bhutto in the separation of Eastern Block of Pakistan in 1971 along with the unnecessary and at times meaningless conflicts against his rivals be it in politics or judiciary had tarnished the image of this bright and intelligent political visionary of Pakistan, who still holds a sway in the hearts and minds of vast majority of the masses of this country. Then the introduction of brief reigns of his beloved daughter Pinky (Benazir Bhutto) set in, who became a perfect antithesis of his charismatic and revolutionary minded father. Her glaring incompetence and inability to provide corruption free (Or highly reduced levels of corruption) good governance and to accept the dictates of the very same establishment, which used its machinery in the recent past to judicially implicate and murder her revered father along with other abductions, tortures, incarcerations and executions of her party members and workers, affected her credibility a lot in the last years of her political life. Overall B.Bhutto possessed a bright and capable demeanor but in all of her life she was unable to employ her perfect leadership skills and to make a stand against her enemies right to the end and later before breathing her last, the bequeathal of NRO and the Lord of corruption Mr A.A Zardari along with his cronies and associates were gifted to this nation.

P.S. PPP is in dire need to cleanse itself from the corrupt & criminal elements along with the unscrupulous feudal lords with the introduction of much needed reforms within the party and recovery of the looted revenues & wealth of this poor nation in order to hold its lost prestige and honor which it deserves after all of its struggles and sacrifices. May be by doing these much needed reforms and purification processes the highly tolerant and forgiving nation of Pakistan might forget its past crimes and corruptions and hand them their much needed support and moral backing.

Pleasure to read you Bret Hawk Brother, as always.

Hind side is a Bliss, no doubt as we can see PPP in a forty year long scanner and what comes out is rather disappointing, they loved to wear the leftist mask and continue to do so but true face is anything but leftist. They shouted popular leftist slogans but pursued rightist agenda. Bhutto talked about Mao and Stalin but never followed the agenda with his heart and soul. His personal and cronies wealth and Jageers stayed intact while few not close to him paid the price of his popular slogan. Mao in same position as Bhutto but at much bigger scale first applied rules of socialism on his own estate. Stalin and Maos role model and example was the theme of the then Progressive Literatis led by Faiz, Qasmi, Jalib Sahibs et al but I wonder how good they would have felt during BB era, let alone today. Faraz Sahib, although continued on leftist school of thought but distanced himself from PPP.

PPP no doubt had been at the receiving end of brutalities but can no longer claim exclusivity as what happened in last ten years. NS was less arrogant that he accepted favour from Saudi King when same was refused by ZA Bhutto by then Libyan leader.

BB died for her lust for power, not for the sake of poor people of our country who have got nothing but a slogan of Roti Kapra aur Makan to Hang On for last forty years. We will cross lines and boundaries of debating Socialism and Capitalism but I feel NS first tenure proved better for the poor people of the country as more job were created by Private Sector than by Public Sector of both BB tenures.

Hawk Bhai, you have nicely summed up that our forgiving nation might forgive and forget the past blunders and plunders but one basic prerequisite for that is are these plunderers willing to give back the loot, I dont think so. And when this comes back through courts, they lose their right of forgiveness.

One thing we cant take away from PPP is that it is has following in all provinces which no other party has at present. Imran is likely to take that flag in due course and that is why our establishment should invest in IK rather than treating him like an outsider.

My Analysis

Dr Shahid Masood: Sick and tired of exposing corruption and frustrated for not seeing any results.

Talat Hussain: The most decent, thoughtful who knows what is he talking about.

Abbas Athar: An obvious somebody who is on someone's payroll.(What will he do with that money? with that kind of a shape he'll be dying in next few years)

Spot on analysis sir
