ISLAMABAD: Jamaat-e-Islami supporters raised their voice in support of the blasphemy law during a sit-in outside the parliament in Islamabad on Sunday.
The Jamaat staged a sit-in against inflation, corruption and the sentence that has been awarded to Dr Aafia Siddiqui by a United States Court.
The protestors also warned the government against the release of blasphemy accused Aasia Bibi.
Syed Munawar Hassan, chief of the party, along with other party leaders lead the protest.
No hurdles and full security
Interior Minister Rehman Malik directed Islamabad chief commissioner not to create any hurdles during the sit-in and to ensure foolproof security for the demonstration.
Malik called Jamaat-e-Islami leader Liaquat Baloch and ensured him of security for the demonstrators. He also appealed for the party members to remain peaceful during the protests.
